I’ve had my 2023 R1S quad for almost 2.5 years and it’s the best vehicle I’ve ever owned. It can do just about anything well. Great hauling kids and dogs and stuff, comfortable and smooth on highway for road trips. Fun on winding country roads. And can climb steep hills on backwoods lumber...
All, please consider the language you use. Special Olympics and Best Buddies made great progress in getting people to reconsider and stop using the R word since the noughts, but in the past few years it seems anything goes, especially on social media. As a parent of a child born with Down...
Interested in what states are doing about electric vehicle charging infrastructure, in light of federal-level headwinds against EVs? Join Climate XChange and Plug In America for a free webinar December 4 2-3pm ET, exploring how states can expand EV charging infrastructure across the country...
My brother picked up a 2-3 year old Polestar 2 as his first EV after driving ICE Audis for years and loves it. I enjoyed test driving it and renting one from Hertz once a couple of years ago. But the new ones are priced to high and it sounds like the 3 has various software and other problems...
I haven’t watched the show, but saw a positive review for this miniseries All Her Fault about a child kidnapping that just premiered on Peacock. Some pretty big names in the cast. The trailer features multiple scenes with a Forest Green R1S - my color!
I really like the two EV option as well - $60K buys some pretty nice EVs these days (or $70-80K plus a $40-50K one).
As for the R2, I did qualify my statement with “probably a little too early”. IF Rivian actually started shipping R2 early in 2Q AND the winner had a Day 1 deposit AND was a...
I just paid $2100 total for R1S Gen 1 windshield replacement and calibration at an authorized collision center I’ve used before and have been happy with. I paid directly and submitted to my insurance company which paid me in full. Much easier than having Safelite do the glass and Rivian the...
I've been mostly off the site dealing with some health issues, but recently posted about the Climate XChange Annual EV Raffle that I volunteer manage. We've been a sponsor here for the last four years or so - since we expanded prizes from a Tesla raffle that started in 2015. Last spring I was...
The receiver is definitely further inset than on my previous cars (Tesla S, X and Y). I couldn't fit my Thule 4-bike carrier onto it because it was hitting some of the car trim that was in the way, so I got a 4" extender. I rarely need to tow anything, but fortunately I think my hitch has a long...
Good to see they’re addressing this before the R2 release. Hope they redo the R1 doors as well. I have a Gen 1 and think the Gen 2 doors are a step backwards.
I got a set of Jackpucks shortly after getting my R1S two years ago. Before I let my local MA inspection station put it on a lift I installed the pucks myself. Wish I’d picked up a set of these back then - will get them now. Thanks!
I got my R1S two years ago and had chips turn into cracks a year later and again last month. First one turned into a crack overnight. This time the chip was in May, Safelite filled it but wouldn’t guarantee anything, and two months later on a hot day it started cracking. Both times were rocks on...
That is true as long as they remain v1/v2 superchargers, but I expect that over time Tesla will upgrade some of those stations to v4 and open them up. But I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting.
And in some locations like West Lebanon, NH, rather than upgrade the 8 v2s, they just added 8 v3s next...
I have sometimes seen non-Rivians plugged into that pull-through charger. Including a clueless/overly hopeful Subaru EV owner who plugged in last summer and left it there despite a big red indicator on the charging pedestal. The original chargers definitely couldn’t handle anything but Rivians.
When I put a string of holiday lights on my R1S roof rack, I ran a 110v extension cord from the rear seat outlet through the map pocket on the back of the driver's seat and then up through the door opening at the top. I taped it down to the B pillar then zip tied it to the rack. The door's...
