Tbh, outside of being an Uber driver, I never really understood why people get phone mounting docks in modern vehicles. Especially ones that either already have CarPlay or good mapping software integrated — like Rivian and Tesla. Why do you still need your phone mounted up high?

If I had to guess, it's not an ICE vehicle. I think are mistaking a hitch receiver for what they believe to be an exhaust pipe. Not sure it's a Rivian, per se. But don't think it's an ICE.

I totally get why the press is still referring to it as the Tesla plug, since it was pioneered by them and is widely known as theirs. But whenever they do that, instead of trying to adopt the NACS nomenclature, it makes it sound as though everyone else is conceding to Tesla. It's just optics...

As does Tesla. Seems to be turning into EV central. Compared to midtown west, which is where all the legacy carmakers' Manhattan dealerships are.
