Hello all,

Just installed the 1EV SmartScreen last night and what a great product and implementation. CarPlay is working a treat and I actually like having the second screen with CarPlay. It's nice to still be able to access the vehicles infotainment separately from CarPlay vs having to switch back and forth.

The only area I'm having issue with is Airplay. I have an iPhone 15 pro running iOS 17.2.1 and I followed the exact steps presented in the 1EV YouTube video. Unfortunately, whenever I try to mirror to the SmartScreen I get an "Unable to connect to Airplay" error message on my iPhone (just a simple mirroring from Control Center).

I did notice that the UI on my smart screen is slightly different than the one in the 1EV YouTube video, so maybe a different firmware version?

I have reached out to 1EV, but wanted to post here in the meantime to see if anyone is running with the same configuration I have, and if they have had success.

Thanks!

I did not. I tried everything and couldn’t get it to work. I ended up removing the screen from the vehicle because I did t like how it looked .

Yes, we have addressed this with a couple folks - the airplay is limited due to licensing by streaming apps. So, be clear it only will screen share your own videos (in your photo folder that you shot), and youtube (not the same as youtube TV). If you try to screen share something with license blocking, it wont work (ie Netflix, Disney, HBO, YouTube TV...etc). This is all controlled by the streaming sources.

We dont push the airplay as a big feature here, for these reasons.

@EV Sportline - It doesn't work on anything. When I follow your instructions step by step and go to screen mirroring, select SmartScreen, it errors out. However, I don't believe this is a problem with your device any longer as I am finding I can't Airplay to any of my airplay compatible devices in my home. Apologies for the noise. The first troubleshooting step for anyone else to do is attempt connecting to other airplay devices before assuming it's this devices problem.

@EV Sportline - Hi! It's me again. Here is my update on this and I am beginning to believe the unit is the problem:

1) After resetting the network settings on my iPhone, AirPlay began working on all other devices except the SmartScreen
2) After attempting to airplay to the SmartScreen (which failed), the iPhone stopped being able to airplay to the other devices.
3) Reset Network Connections again, followed the same steps as above and got the same result.
4) Factory Reset the SmartScreen Device, reset my network connections, and "forgot" the Bluetooth connection. Reconnected to the SmartScreen and still could not AirPlay. Couldn't airplay on my other devices until I reset the network connections again.

Something else I've noticed is the WiFi to the SmartScreen doesn't fully connect. I just constantly have a spinning circle next to the network name. Related potentially?

Lastly it's important to note that all I am doing from my main iPhone screen is swiping down and attempting to screen mirror w/o any video playing. I've also attempted to open YouTube and airplay to the SmartScreen as well as swiping down and doing screen mirror - both always fail.

The spinning circle next to the network is because the 1EV dhcp server doesn’t set a router. If you go in and manually configure the connection and set the router you will get the connected check mark. Unfortunately this screws everything else up (at least in my case)

Let me give it a go tomorrow on my phone / R1T... and I'll re-record a step by step - more slowly, and make sure I cover all bases. Standby....

This was also my experience. I just mentioned it as I was unsure if it was just happening to me. This takes that away as an issue

I am having the same issues and therefore cannot use screen mirroring.

Greatly appreciate you looking at this since I have the same issues as Mycroft.
I ended up calling EVSportline support and then sending in a video of the issue. Anyone running iOS 17.2 or 17.3 could have problems. They’re working on a firmware update.
