Now that we are into winter. Owners, how are they doing and how in rainy weather performance?
All ATs have larger and deeper voids between tread blocks. Lots of channels for displaced water to evacuate. However, if moving fast enough and the water is deep enough, risk of hydroplaning still there. The difference is the threshold at which it happens.

I am feeling these Hankook's (33" 275 60 20 SL) to swap with my OEM 21" range wheels, maybe put them on some Atomic 20" AW08's unless I can find some used 20" OEM's somewhere. Price is awesome and specs are pretty good as well.

Just not buying the Nitto Recon Grappler is the answer to all our AT tire desires and efficiency dreams. If I get them, I will report back as well as post on Tire Rack, Simple Tire, or wherever i find the best deal; $258/tire is almost cheap nowadays.

Liking these because:
-relatively inexpensive
-EV tuned
-3PMSF
-44 lbs ain't too bad
-have had good experiences with Hankook performance tires in the past

Not Liking:

115 load rating. Borderline. Check out Nitto Terra Grappler G3. The 276/60 is already out. It's 116T and a XL. 50 psi max. 45.3 lbs.

ly get another 30k from them. Noise has increased marginally, nothing compared to the OEM. Range has been exceptional, on regular mode I'm getting an average of 2.2 miles vs. ~1.9. Lower than originally noted of 2.4, but this is real world over 15k miles which includes some towing. O
I probably have around 15k on these and have very minimal wear, probably get another 30k from them. Noise has increased marginally, nothing compared to the OEM. Range has been exceptional, on regular mode I'm getting an average of 2.2 miles vs. ~1.9. Lower than originally noted of 2.4, but this is real world over 15k miles which includes some towing. On Econ model I get like 2.7. Getting better range than my wife's r1s with 21' wheels.
Well finally at 20K miles I no longer can take the tire noise and decided to pull the trigger on these. I will do a before and after range and noise mesurament

I recently installed a set of the 275/65r20 116T and so far my range has been really bad. I have them inflated to 48psi and in 1.61mi/kwh in the last 115 miles. I’m not sure if the weather would cause this huge of a hit. I had the Pirellis and swapped them out at 33160 miles. They still had some tread left.

Anyone else seeing a range decrease?

These are the Pirelli lifetime

Try running them at 45 PSI? More is not always better for range.

When I first got them, the tire shop had them inflated to 42psi which got up to 45psi when warmed up. They were even worse range wise. I’m going to give them 500 miles and if it doesn’t improve, going to need to go back to Pirellis. I am shocked at how bad the range has been and even though our temperatures have been dipping into the low 30s, I’ve never seen my range drop by this much. I’ve owned this truck since April 2022 and the only time I’ve ever gotten 1.6mi/kwh is when going up Mountain Roads for an extended period of time. Something must be off because losing 30% range is nuts.

Just a heads up. I got off the techs at Nitto and they advised I up the tire pressure to 51psi cold for the load and weight of this vehicle. I’ll report back if I see any improvement.

Thanks for this- are your efficiency numbers any better? I am in the same boat... 1.6 kwh/m after 500 miles at 44 PSI

I contacted Nitto as well and they said for the 275/65R20, 116T SL I should be running 38 PSI. Will report back with efficiency numbers after a thousand miles

Not sure if this is new news. Gear shop claims 6.8% range improvement of 20" AS OEM over 20" AT OEM. On the max pack, this is 395 miles of range. So that tells me there is still a holy grail of an actual 20" AS tire out there that can do better than the 22" OEM of 410, at the expense of off-road capability. We just might not know which one yet.

But a 15 mile range hit for an arguably better off road performing tire at half the price? Sign me up.

recent unofficial data point:
I did a San Diego to Mammoth ski trip last week and got 1.9 average for the whole trip according to trip A. Had a rack on top with skis, kids, fully loaded up with stuff for a week. I have rock sliders too. Drove all highway in low and all-purpose ~75+ mph. I used conserve for 20 mins near end of trip on way back to see if i could skip a charging stop, but decided against it.

Also I did do a tire rotation 1k miles ago at 5k+ miles.
My cold SD temp was 46 psi. Hit 51 at some points of drive and probably 46-48 around town in Mammoth.

This was rough. 1.44 m/kwh after 120 miles of regular driving so I put them back to 44 PSI
