This is pretty much what I saw earlier when I looked at a few eBay listings. To use that 6x9 as a passive radiator, I think one would have to gut out the interior of the enclosure, modify the flat top to include a mounting face for the 8” sub.Photos of the OEM "sub".

Doubtful. Looking at pictures on eBay I don't see any differences between the hardware, other than the logo. Any difference in sound would be the audio processing, which is software. You are more likely to see improvement in switching out the 6x9 driver itself, wrapping the enclosure or lining vehicle structure around it with anti-vibration mat, and (if possible) stuffing the inside of the enclosure with some poly fill.quick question can we just swap sub with meridian sub from ebay? would it improve?
Question. If I line the vehicle structure with an anti-vibration mat, the amp will technically be inside the sub enclosure. Do you foresee any issues there?Doubtful. Only issue would be if you inhibit air circulation needed for effective amp convection cooling.Question. If I line the vehicle structure with an anti-vibration mat, the amp will technically be inside the sub enclosure. Do you foresee any issues there?
Thanks for finding this, so there is a possibility for a fairly straightforward swap?If anyone is interested, shockingly this seems to be the only 6x9 sub on the market. Not sure it would fit as a direct replacement. How many watts is the factory sub channel? Anyone know?

It would be, if and only if... and I do not know answers. Thanks for finding this, so there is a possibility for a fairly straightforward swap?
You’ll also need oem speaker impedance compared to this subs impedance. Is the OEM sub a single voice coil (more than likely)It would be, if and only if... and I do not know answers.
Tempted to look for a salvaged sub to investigate. But... would feel a lot better taking that plunge if I knew factory power for that channel.
- There is enough room inside the factory enclosure to fit this 6x9 MMATS sub?
- The factory sub channel is powerful enough to drive this sub (which is 300W RMS)?
It's got a big ass driver. I am not sure it will fit.

Correct. Many suspect it's 4Ω, but not confirmed. You’ll also need oem speaker impedance compared to this subs impedance. Is the OEM sub a single voice coil (more than likely)
What about this? Seems to be designed for free air use, and with a relatively shallow mounting depth requirement. If anyone is interested, shockingly this seems to be the only 6x9 sub on the market.
