Hi T,

We wanted to follow up with you directly after RJ’s letter this past Thursday regarding pricing. As RJ said, your previously configured price will be honored.

We appreciate your patience as we update our configurator and your Account page with your previous pricing. We expect this could take several weeks. In the meantime, you’ll be hearing from us more regularly.

Here are some things you should know:
  • Your Rivian Account page will continue to reflect the higher pricing until the update is complete.
  • Once the update is complete, your preorder will revert to what it was as of February 28, 2022.
  • We will honor the prices you were given for the options you previously chose.
  • Details regarding Rivian preorders can be found in our Preorder Agreement.
Feel free to contact us if you have questions or input throughout the process. We’re here to support you. Thank you for being part of the Rivian community.

Not sure I love the wording of that 3rd bullet point, considering some CS reps have been saying we’ll be able to change config and keep old pricing. Still some details to work out. I’ll be patient until we get a definitive answer.

Edit to clarify: “don’t love” wasn’t meant to suggest I’m upset. I would just like the opportunity to change 4 options at least 1 time, after seeing samples: exterior paint, interior color, wheels, off-road package.

To me, it sounds like you'll pay the new prices if you select an option you hadn't selected prior to March 1. We'll see.

Same here. I was sitting on a config that I didn’t really expect to go with at delivery a year from now.

I would be perfectly fine with that.

What would your main concern be? We do have to understand that the agreement we agreed to says the prices could go up.

I didn't get this...did CS promise to follow-up with you, and this is them following-up? I've been getting the other emails.

That's how I took that as well. I think they will need to let people change paint and interior color. Most people have never seen these vehicles in person let alone all colors.

The vast majority of us have only seen a web rendering of the R1, let alone specific colors. Id be happy with just seeing the sample panels that have been at events, but that hasn’t been an option except for people in 3-4 markets.

Agreed. I could understand them keeping people in the model/trim they had previously configured, but locking people into their exterior/interior colors, accessories, etc. would seem like overkill.

Yep, that means if you didn’t have an option selected you will pay the higher price for that option if you add it.

I think that is fair with all things considered.

Just got it as well. I guess I can stop going to the configurator daily.

I agree, paint and interior should be eligible to change.

Curious if they will only allow the 3/1 config, or ANY previous config? I’m pretty sure at one point I had every option.

Interesting, I configured mine the day the configurator was released and have never changed it…. Appears I must be in the minority here.
