Slightly off topic fellas. I just bought my niece a 3D printer as her college graduation gift. That has renewed my interest in starting this as a new hobby. Any suggestions on tutorials (books, youtube, etc.) for getting started?
Mucho Gracias
Yo! That's a dope gift for your niece. 3D printing is a great hobby, and it's only going to get more popular in the years to come.
As for tutorials, there are a ton of great resources out there. Here are a few of my favorites:
- YouTube: There are tons of great 3D printing channels on YouTube. Some of my favorites include CHEP, Thomas Sanladerer, and Maker's Muse.
- Books: There are also a few great 3D printing books out there. I'd recommend "3D Printing for Dummies" by Donald F. Vila, or "The 3D Printing Handbook" by Adrian Bowyer.
- Online forums: There are also a ton of great online forums where you can get help from other 3D printing enthusiasts. Some of my favorites include 3DPrint.com, Thingiverse, and Reddit's /r/3Dprinting subreddit.
- Start with a simple project. Don't try to print something too complex when you're first starting out.
- Make sure you have the right settings. The settings for your 3D printer can have a big impact on the quality of your prints.
- Be patient. 3D printing can be a slow process, so be patient and don't get discouraged if your first few prints don't turn out perfect.
P.S. If you need any help getting started, just let me know. I'm always happy to help out a fellow 3D printing enthusiast.
