What is important about using the tonneau cover? If you plan to open and close it a lot, get the factory powered one or the weathertech/lomax cover. The last 2 are very quick to open and close to toss stuff in. As I mentioned earlier, adding and removing slats for the factory manual and Interrobang can get old in a hurry.

I was leaning toward the factory powered and manual, or Interrobang. Any of the slat type ones would not be that useful for me as taking out the slats, putting them somewhere each time I need to put something taller in the bad, or I want to drop something in, is just a total waste of time. The powered ones haven't been reliable enough yet for me to buy, maybe the latest one will but but at 3-5k, not sure I see the value spending that much on it at this point.

See if there are any members with tonneau covers in your area and check them out. At this point I am just going with a topper to get even more versatility and it wasn't that much more than many of the covers you have listed. It think it was about 2k and I'll have a completely enclosed bed.

Good morning, fellow Rivianists. With your help, I've decided on (and purchased) two of the items I asked about to begin this thread, but I still have questions about the tounneau covers. One of those questions is how the tracks for covers were changed in 2025 models and how this might affect my options (given that I have a '25). My other question is below the research I did on prices, which is at the bottom of this comment.
  • The BestEVMod cover works beautifully. Per advice from @ElGuano , I also bought the Versatex mat to protect the door, although I haven't received it yet.
  • @TheRiviAnswer and others suggested the Rivian tailgate cover. After trying out a couple of the better known third-party brands at REI, I found the argument that the small amount of money for one that actually fits to Rivian's lights, latches, etc. compelling, and have ordered it from Rivian.
Then, there's the manual tounneau cover. As best I can tell, there are five manufacturers with hard covers tailor-made for the R1T. I thought I should share my research with you all:
  1. Rivian $1,800 inc. storage bag
  2. Interrobang (which seems like a great company, BTW) $1,399 without bag, $1,649 with storage bag
  3. Tail Lidz, $1,000, no bag
  4. Lomax, four variants, ranging from $1,115 to $2,228.
  5. Weathertech, $1,035
Based on the comments above, my impression is that you get what you pay for (although I'm a bit confused by all the Lomax options). As always, any observations/experiences would be appreciated!
Obviously, I'm a bit biased on which option I'd choose, but I can confirm that the rails in the 2025 models are the same as previous years and you shouldn't have trouble with any of those choices. I will say that I personally don't find the bag all that useful, which is why we offer ours as an option rather than building a really expensive bag into the cost. And thank you, you seem like a really great forum member, btw.

I'm another +1 for the Interrobang cover. Works great, 99% waterproof (I wouldnt put important legal documents back there, but my wife trusts it enough to put her nice luggage and bags).
As DayTripping mentioned, if you like to throw stuff in the bed without opening your tailgate, then the slatted design is obviously not a good choice. I personally have no problem opening the tailgate when I want to put something in, and I only haul larger items needing the slats removed a couple times a month, so removing a panel or two isnt a big deal. The other thing to look out for, some of the flip-style cover the tunnel and tailgate buttons making it harder to access.

FYI - the flip ones that I have seen, and the WeatherTech one I have don't block the buttons. If was only taking out a slat or two on the other manual ones, it might be less of an issue. I have a lot of stuff that is just taller than the tonneau cover would allow closed. The flip ones also give me the option of laying the cover back down on the things that are slightly too tall. It helps to keep stuff from blowing out as well.
