For another reference, I parked my gen 2 R1S at an airport for 8 days about a month ago and just walked away with 200 miles of range. I didn't adjust settings. When I returned I had 100 miles of range left. Will definitely try some of the recommended strategies next time.

For my gen 1 R1T. I do remeber loosing charge after my 5 day trip. But not that insane.
Now I have Gen 2 R1T. I am loosing 2-3 mile a day. That's normal. But crazy thing is that I am plugged in, I charge to 62% for daily use. Once charged obviously it will stop charging. But even if it is still plugged I find I lost 9-10 miles between Thursday to Sunday. But why? when it is still plugged it should keep charging after certain loss of battery. No, I will loose 2% even I m plugged.

What? Really? I haven't been following vampire drain that closely with Gen 2's since I'm a Gen 1 owner, but I remember Wassym boasting Gen 2's would have best in class vampire drain or something?

Unbelievable and very disappointing Rivian can't seem fix this. Rivian owners leaving their cars at the airport should not have to worry about this.

Yeah doesn't sound like your Rivian went to sleep at all. I leave mine at the airport and lose the standard 1% a day or so. Gear guard is on but I try to park with low traffic so it doesn't go off much.

Last time we parked it for this long, it wasn’t a shocking drain - I even left gear guard on. Shipping mode was supposed to be a dramatic improvement and I got screwed.
I did notice the kids left the right rear passenger seat in the forward entry position for the 3rd row but that would be a dumb reason to lose 80% of my battery SOC

Yeah not sure if the 3rd row forward would keep the truck on. I have an R1T so can't comment on that. Something must have caused the truck to remain on.

I have used shipping mode at the airport before but didn't notice much difference than just walking away so I don't even bother anymore.

Well as I mentioned, my Gen 2 R1S is < 1% a day. Very reasonable IMO

My gen 2 R1S (Large battery) is currently sitting at airport parking and is losing a little over 2% per day, which isn’t great. Gear Guard was enabled when I walked away; I tried disabling it via the app, but I’m not sure if the setting is sticking.
Any tips?

I vote for a 12V battery issue. It seems like the most likely cause, IMO.

This worries me actually. At least I knew about the vampire drain issue before purchasing, so I am not surprised.

I am really hoping I don't experience what you did. Arriving home from a trip to a dead battery isn't good at all, especially when it should never happen. I hope you find out the cause and can get it fixed.

Ive parked my Gen 1 at airport many times. I leave gear guard on as per normal and just walk away. 1% - 2% a day. Something is deeply not right.

Rivian called me yesterday to obtain details on times and dates so the engineers can review the logs.
Keep ua posted as I think this was 100% a bug (an unfortunate one!).

Shipping mode should still allow you to view your vehicle online on the app,, BTW. I just came back from a 7 day trip and my R1T lost around 2.5% battery SoC while parked in my garage in shipping mode against the 'regular' 1%/day that normally does.

I have a Gen2 and the worst drain I have seen was up in the mountains with temperatures around 0-10 degrees, I was losing 7% a day with no driving. I believe this has improved with updates but I haven’t seen the temperature that low again to test it.
Other than that which was right after the Gen 2 came out vampire drain has been very low for me.
