HI All,
I thought I'd share my recent experience and how I used Alexa Routines. I'm an avid cyclist and use the cross bars with a 1up rack to carry my bike(s). A couple of weeks ago I dropped the bike of for some service, went for a hike, hand lunch with my wife, even did some grocery shopping on the way home from the my local bike shop. The bottom line' I was distracted and you guessed it - forgot the bike was on the rack and yes, I drove into the garage. Destroyed the the 1up, the front wheel and facia board to the garage.
Since, I'm sure I'm not the only one who's done this, I wondered if there was a way to use Alexa to remind me that the bike was on the rack. I'm in no way an Alexa expert but was able to hack my way through it. Now when my phone, which I use as my car key, crosses the my homes geo-fence, Alexa speaks through the truck speaker "don't forget your bike is on the rack". Using Alexa in the truck I can either enable or disable the routine.
its not perfect and still requires me to enable it but it's one more layer to prevent that awful feeling from happening again. But just to be sure, I also now place a traffic cone in my parking spot when I leave for a ride.
Has anyone else created any cool routines with their vehicles?
