Austin Space (showroom) making progress

Drove by the registered address for the Austin showroom and it looks like they finally have some Rivian-based signage up, albeit temporary.

For those of you unaware, it is located on Congress Ave in downtown, right next to the Yeti store.

I was told last year around September that it was expected to open before the end of 2023. Hoping that's still the case!

Among other advantages to driving a Rivian in Austin...you won't go out to get in the car in the morning to find that your catalytic converter has been stolen.

Another update here. They are making good progress on the Austin space. It now has windows/glass installed, along with the Rivian signs. Nothing inside the building yet except structural/lighting work that's actively being done.

When I last posted, an article came out not to long after and said "2024." It's looking to be Q1 2024 based on this progress imo.

The location is a bit odd, as the structure is built down and behind the overpass and there's nowhere to really park. Nevertheless, it'll be seen by tons of people since it is off of a main strip in downtown Austin.

Ghost bikes are not necessarily located where someone actually "bought the farm". They move them around quite a bit...at least in Kerrville & vicinity.

Popped by the R2 Party @ the Yeti store on 3/13. The showroom is still unfinished…hard to imagine this would make a Q1 open.

I talked to one of the Rivian employees who will be working at this location and they said it was going to be a May opening, but that they were running into a few things that may cause a delay.

Google had "May 24" displayed as the opening date, that has now been changed to "June 9."

It may never open.

Well, the space did a soft opening today and it's very cool! I've been to a couple of other Rivian Spaces (NYC and Venice) and the Austin location is the best yet.

It's three levels, with a patio overlooking downtown. It's connected directly to the Lady Bird trail and they even have Level 2 chargers I was told are open to Rivian owners to use for free.

They have the skateboard and motors on display as well.

If you get a chance, I highly recommend checking it out. The grand opening is next Friday. They will be doing test drives of a Gen 2 dual motor R1S. They will also have a refreshed R1S on display. Today they only had Gen 1, though.
