All is well so far. On our 3rd charge stop, 1 RAN, 2 Tesla SCs. Now in Post, TX. Side note, we passed my brother’s, daughter, also on her way to Anchorage on the UT Texas 4000 bike ride. Yes, she is riding a bike to Anchorage! A little slower than us though, they should arrive sometime around the end of July. Pretty crazy and unplanned coincidence!

I’m making this trip in July, so it’ll be fun getting to watch someone here do it first. Good luck and travel safe.

So your Niece? Lol. Some of the forum think you're crazy. She takes you to a whole new level. That will be a crazy impressive feat.

A "bike" as in bicycle? She could have just gotten a ride with you (just/kidding). Cheers.

Haha! Yes a bicycle. It is a cancer fund raiser that the University of Texas has done for ~20 years now. Hard to believe these kids can do it! Most of them are not hard core cyclists either.

I used to hold the family record for epic bike rides, from Dallas to Denver, but now she is gonna blow that away! At least I now have the family record for epic drives. 😉

Latest update: yesterday we were planning to make it to Raton, NM but needed to charge at the Tesla SC in Clayton. We pulled in and as I plugged the truck in all 10 of the chargers went dark! We didn’t have enough charge to make it to Raton but the was a Francis Energy (?) level 2 charger with 2 plugs we would make with 11 miles left. We started out but turned around and went to the Clayton RV Park plugged in to 50 amps, set up the tent and got a good night’s sleep while charging. Worked out great.

Today went well going through Colorado, nothing too eventful, 2 Tesla SCs, one in Colorado Springs and then Denver.

Then we pulled into the RAN charger in Cheyenne, WY and it was totally empty until another “almost” doppelgänger and fellow forum member pulled in!

Welcome to Wyoming!

I hope I haven’t talked you out of the I-25 to I-90 route as I much prefer it over going west on I-80. Fewer semis and better scenery.

The Sheridan charger appears to be online.
I don’t think the charger in Hardin someone else mentioned is operational yet.

glad Colorado went well. Let me know how north on 25 thru Wyoming goes. I’ll be trying that in 6 weeks.

Thanks! It’s beautiful and my first time here. We are gonna sort that out in the morning but I think Sheridan is still on the itinerary.

Day #3: Thursday morning, outside of Casper Wyoming. We stayed at the Platte River RV Park last night and charged to 80% on their 50 amp outlet. The owner was hesitant and had never been asked about EV charging. He let us do it and just asked to text photos of the meter before and after (~75kw).
We are topping off to 100% at the Tesla SC at the Hat Six Truck stop outside Casper, 8 plugs, all vacant except us.

Fun fact: the truck stop has a “Schlotzsky’s Austin Eatery”! Schlotzsky’s started in Austin and they used to be everywhere there, now there are only a few.

We are heading up to Sheridan then Montana, most likely Billings, Bozeman and Helena….. Canada today might be a stretch! Canada, Oh Canada!! Stay tuned.

I'm just catching this thread now, and am slightly jealous. It sounds like a great trip!

I have a similar aspirational road trip to Alaska saved in ABRP, but I'm not going to have the time to do it for a number of years.

It looks like the charging situation through northern Canada has gotten significantly better since I first mapped it out about a year ago.

I'd carry a spare tire, if feasible. My friends and I needed one when we did Colorado to Anchorage and back (via Dawson City and some other diversions), in an ICE, 30 years ago.
