Brand new and Bricked < 400 miles

Not a huge shock but still disappointing. Only been a few weeks with our new R1S, and walked out to find it completely unresponsive. Phone said offline, but couldn't control anything, physical key failed. Couldn't even get the charge cable unlatched. After 10 mins of desperate fussing something caused the car to wake up and I was able to get the door unlocked. Flashed the critical battery error with a picture of the main battery before entering an endless restart loop. Roadside assistance guy was very nice and helpful, but nothing worked. Was able to get the charger unplugged at some point during one of the restarts, but after 5-10 mins of cycling it just gave up and now doesn't even have enough power left to latch the door. Towing it tomorrow.

I'm sure a ton of people have fantastic experiences, but this is rough. I guess it might be the 12v battery for which I had the same reach out from Rivian that others are getting. Anyone have any idea if this is typical of a 12v failure, or should I be more concerned about something more serious? No warnings at all from the car and otherwise it's been perfect.

How very upsetting! It does sound like a 12V error but only the diagnostic with service will confirm that. It is disappointing that QC out of the factory is still lacking.

Mine bricked 20 miles down the road in a catastrophic rear motor failure. Ended with a buyback and replacement and now 27k into my second R1S and it hasn’t been trouble free either. 13 service visits in 15 months.
