I am looking for a '22/'23 R1T and find it impossible to tell on sites like Carvana, Carmax, EVER, etc whether each vehicle that interess comes with a tonneau cover or not. It's rarely mentioned in the description and even if I can find a way to ask a question about a specific vehicle, they often don't know or even respond, so is it safe to assume that if I don't see a cover in any of the pictures that it doesn't come with one?

When I hit a local test drive event, the one I drove had a manual one that fit in the gear tunnel. I'm not sure I've ever seen a powered one open so don't know if they essentially roll up and disappear or what.

Thanks!

The power one does roll up so it would be hard to see. If you can zoom in on the button that releases the tailgate, you will see two distinct buttons there: one for the tailgate and one for the cover. In trucks without the power cover, it’s one big button.

Anyone who sold a truck to a third party site may have independently sold the manual cover. I know I would have.

Only Rivian would know for sure.. call them with the VIN, they'd probably give you that info.

When I got my R1T, I dropped by a local Rivian space and made friends. They were able to pull up the original bill of sale with all options from the VIN.

Went to drive 2 today...one with a powered cover and one with a manual...now I see exactly what you mean by the button distinction...thanks!

The only warning - some of the earliest "shipped without tonneau" still had the button. Because it was built for the powered tonneau, then they stopped shipping with powered tonneau due to quality problems. So there are quite a few trucks that have the powered tonneau, but it's either disabled in software (so it doesn't show up in the software interface at all, and the button on the back does nothing,) or both that *AND* the actual slats are missing from inside their "storage location."

Technically it doesn't roll up - the slats stack up inside a space above the gear tunnel.
