Car not preconditioning battery

This is all clear as mud, to me ☹ I have only experimented with hooking up, briefly, to 2 remote chargers - a ChargePoint and a Tesla Magic Dock. Both were easy peasy. Have no idea about preconditioning the battery, for serious charging. Sounds like a PITA. Actually, it sounds like a car wreck waiting to happen while I’m trying to game the system on the center screen. Exactly what is the benefit, other than faster charging?

It's really just faster charging and, possibly, less wear on the cells. But the vehicle will (should) handle this for you automatically if you route to a DCFC in the nav.

Oh, man. Now, you’re asking me to plan ahead ? So, I just pick a DCFC as my destination and my rig will take care of the rest. If I bypass that charger - no harm, no foul, right?

Well, sort of. Preconditioning will use a good bit of power and, if you don't stop, it will be wasted energy.
