Off-color† lights are illegal on public roads in essentially every jurisdiction. Not gonna happen.

(And thank goodness, too. It's bad enough with the badly-aimed headlights, lightbars, amber fog lights on-highway, etc.)

Hey, we all might not be in favor but op simply asked a question on how/if. They didn't ask for your judgement. There's a little too much of that lately on here.

I had my lightbar replaced back in the spring after an unfortunate mishap with some flying roof shingles. The original light bar was fully intact, just scratched up a bit. I asked the body shop to keep the original light bar, so I could use it for some shop art at home.

The light bar has a 4-pin connector. One power, one ground - the other two I am guessing are for some kind of digital protocol. I've done a bunch of arduino projects using 3-pin addressable LED strips, but I'm guessing this is more complicated than that. I haven't been able to find anything online about how one might control the light bar (not surprisingly). 10 out of 10 on the tinker scale.

My backup plan is just to open the light bar up and replace the guts with my own addressible LEDs that I'm familiar with, but the housing is glued together Probably going to take some fairly destructive methods to cut the thing open. But, this is for some garage wall art, not something I'd be re-installing on a truck...

TL;DR - I'm in essentially the same boat, just for garage art not my truck.

So you can impersonate an officer? Yearning for different living arrangements and craving prison cuisine? That's a misdemeanor or felony, pending which state you do it in. Picture other inmates' reaction when they ask you "what you in for?"

Many decades ago I had blue lights on the front of my 1976 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme. I saw some guys hastily throwing boxes into the back of a truck in the middle of the night and pulled them over, only to drive around them and laugh. Some months later, I was at a shopping mall and a cop was waiting by my vehicle when I walked out. He told me to take them off and that he was gonna drive by my house to make sure they'd been removed.

I imagine these days they'd just give you a pretty hefty ticket for these shenanigans. ?
