Once again I’m scheduling out three months for service. Is anyone aware of an existing class action lawsuit against Rivian for failure to honor warranty obligations in a timely manner? All the data is already discoverable in Rivian’s systems, it might be a slam dunk, assuming a law exists which covers these kinds of shenanigans. I am not a lawyer, though.

EDIT: the app is showing no service opponents available at all now. So I guess infinite wait times are the new thing.

I have been lucky, knock on wood, that I have not had any serious issues that required a long wait. Most I have waited to get in to be repaired is 6 weeks, and it was never serious. Most I have waited for a repair is 3 days. And I had a loaner.

That said, I can actually see this having some teeth.

If its something out of a owners control, from like a accident, than theres nothing there.

But something like 2-3-4 months just to get in to be diagnosed, plus repair time.. GM got sued for this, and lost, and its a current issue as they have a large back log for engines (L87 Engines, and it just turned into class action). GM started buying back the trucks back to fix at a later date when the engines come available, or to completely destroy the truck.

Yea... I can see this turning into something bigger if pushed in the right state.

Of course the Rivian loyalist will say anything to defend Rivian.. And in Rivians defense, they are getting better.... For some, they still have some issues if you read thru the forums.

yeah, seems pretty harsh. if it's something that causes issues with actually being able to safely drive the vehicle, they will get you in sooner. But cosmetic issues, rattling, etc, get pushed out. They have to expand more service centers but that takes time.

When we got our first Tesla in 2015, we could get in right away, but later on, especially after the Model 3 release, things got so backed up, around my area you couldn't get an appointment for at least 2 months out. THey eventually caught up with the demand and I am sure, Rivian will do the same in time.

Just be patient and understand the difficulty in building cars more rapidly and cheaper, all while building out a charging infrastructure along with new service centers...

That's unfortunate. I suggest calling them and asking about the "no appointments available" situation. You might be on hold for awhile so grab a snack or coffee, but at least they have real people on the line. I've called them before and they have always been helpful.

When you signed your purchase agreement, you agreed to arbitration and to not participate in a class action lawsuit. Frankly, pursuing a class action is a stupid idea. You won't get quicker appointments overnight, it will take years to see any outcome, you might get $0.75 settlement, and attorneys will make millions.

Law suit for this, sue for that and if in doubt, sue....

Its no wonder that the insurance is so high and entitlement attitude is prevalent.

If the vehicle is not drivable or has a serious issue, they will literally tow you on the same day you report it. The longer wait times are for less urgent issues, and as they build more centers, it has been improving. SoCal was once a total disaster but now they are getting vehicles in and out within a few days of dropping it off, not like the previously wait time of many weeks baking in the sun and bird droppings. So they are trying, and its showing.

What type of service? Where are you located? Is mobile an option? Not enough details to act on here.

Started off as slam dunk class action lawsuit then tapers off to I'm not a lawyer. If you feel that strongly about it, go hire a lawyer and start your case.

The long wait times suck but jumping straight to class action lawsuit without any due diligence to get service is a huge leap.
