Has anyone in the Bend area installed the Comma 3X hardware? I've been following the install instructions / video and just have no faith that I will be able to plug the multi pin connector back into the AXM. I guess my fingers are just too big & clumsy. Any local help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

TIA

Well I was able to install the Comma 3X wiring harness into my R1T despite my clumsy fingers and it only took 15 min. The rest of the install was easy and I’ve now have OpenPilot up and running.

I too am in Central Oregon and I just discovered the C3X. I'm dying to know how you like it. Thinking of ordering one. (I come from years of a MX with autopilot and miss not being able to use Driver+ in our area)

I also own an MX and use FSD constantly so, yeah, I found the limitations of Driver+ to be frustrating. The C3X with OpenPilot is just like having Driver+ everywhere. I think you’ll be pleased.

I'm sorry I missed this thread earlier. I'm here over in the valley. I hope you guys have been following the discords regarding the Comma. I have been running the 3x for over 3800mi in my R1T now and totally love it. I would suggest, if you are still just using Openpilot, into looking into Sunnypilot with MADS and eventually moving into Lukas Loetkolben's Xnor-Tech build with sunnypilot mads. Lukas has created a secondary harness adding steering wheel button support for +/- speed and blind spot sensors. He also has a UI build for the +/- speed settings to use without the added harness for now. This will override the Rivian Adaptive Cruise and get you closer to longitudinal control.

I'm sorry I missed this thread earlier….
Welcome! I’ve been following you on Discord.

I’ve been using OP for about a month now and I really like it. Not only do I have the equivalent of Driver+ on secondary roads but I also have it while towing my Airstream. I tried SunnyPilot Tesla MADS for a while but it’s not for me. It handled the steering while I controlled the speed/braking but I prefer just the opposite: I handle the steering while the ADAS controls speed/braking. It’s a personal preference.

That said, I’ve been anxiously waiting to try Lukas’ version of longitudinal control but I’ve been waiting until I can control everything from the steering wheel. I can barely read the C3X screen much less try to adjust my speed on it.

So let me enlist your help. I purchased the C3X and harness straight from Comma but I’m not clear what I need to purchase from Lukas. Also, even tho I’ve been following the discussion on Discord I’m still not clear where to find the various forks. Once I have the URL I can download it.

I’d appreciate any help you can give me/us.

TIA.

Here is the link for the harness upgrade - Rivian R1S/R1T (GEN1) - Longitudinal Upgrade Kit – xnor Shop - be sure to select the comma harness option if that is what you bought.

As for Lukas's forks-

xnor-tech/sunny-mads-buttons - for the longitudinal upgrade based on Sunnypilot's M.A.D.S branch)
xnor-tech/sunny-buttons - for the longitudinal upgrade based on lastest Sunnypilot's master branch (no M.A.D.S)
xnor-tech/sunny-mads-buttons-ui - with on screen buttons based on Sunnypilot's M.A.D.S branch)
xnor-tech/sunny-buttons-ui - with on screen buttons based on lastest Sunnypilot's master branch (no M.A.D.S)

So, without the additional harness upgrade, you would want to use the ones that have the "-ui" at the end so that the buttons are on the comma screen.

Hi! Did you find the harness upgrade to be worth it? I just started using the Comma for my R1T and am considering the upgrade as well now.

For me, the harness upgrade is well worth it to have access to Openpilot Longitudinal and all the benefits it provides over using Rivian's ACC.

BTW, for anyone who doesn't have the time to follow all the Discord channels and other updates, I've also started this site to consolidate all the news from the Commaverse. Please check it out if you want to keep up-to-date on stuff:
