Is it just me or did some of the comments like "1000% would buy" seem like plants to other folks too? I am still not impressed with this thing.
You must be one of the few people on the planet who aren’t impressed with totally real and believable specs like the following:

I believe it. But I live in a world where near infinite masses are also frictionless, and distances are measured in plancks

There are plenty of people that buy "quirky" vehicles precisely because they're different and interesting. Think about the Mini Cooper or FJ Cruiser. These vehicles typically sell well for a couple years, but then sales taper off once they become more common on the road. I expect the same will happen with the Cybertruck.
But those are actually functional vehicles, this is more like buying an H1 Hummer. I don't understand how it even functions as a truck with those bedsides.

Probably needed more crumple zone due to the "exoskeleton". No frame to dissipate energy into.

I’ll throw out a hypothetical. How would everyone feel if the Cybertruck failed and Tesla bought Rivian to stay in the truck game?

Depends, in this hypothetical, does Elon become CEO? Then who wants to buy some "gently used" Rivians?

That would be bad news for everyone based on recent Musk acquisitions :CWL:

Buys Rivian, removes USS, radar, USB ports, lumbar supports, installs a yoke without DBW, drops the colors down to white only ... additional MUSKLOLZ features TBD ...
