My salvaged R1T had the handy flashlight in the door pillaged (along with the camp speaker, first aid kit, and some other standard stuff).

I just couldn't stomach $175 to replace a simple flashlight, so I worked up a 3d printed adapter that fits that catch mechanism in the door. Epoxied on to an inexpensive Harbor Freight flashlight, that just happened to be a perfect fit. Kind of eyeballed the shape looking at photos of the Rivian one.

100 lumens dimmer and doesn't charge in the door, but also $150 cheaper. Adjustable zoom allows a wide or narrow light beam.

The adapter is actually 2 pieces, allowing one to push the activation button at the end of the torch.

Rivian Torch
HF Flashlight (similar to the one I used)

I have another one I'm working on that is more functional (brighter, multi-color, strobing, power bank, rechargeable) and I think looks a little nicer. Might set up a fab to make available for purchase if others are interested.

Nice work.

I would definitely do this if my original one fails. Did you post your model or stl file on one of the sharing sites?

Those items you're missing aren't "standard" they are options. The stock flashlight is rather shitty, I have no doubt that the HF one is better. But the only reason I use the door pocket is for charging, it's a terrible place for it, so mine mostly lives in the center console. Since the first time I needed it and couldn't open the door to get it...

So buy it....? Aside from the flashlight being shitty, they could very well have made it supply power too, but no. At least the camp speaker rocks.

I should say that they were included in the purchase of the vehicle and were "retained" by the prior owner or scrap yard.

It would be really nice to have a USB power bank in there instead.
Supposedly, the original idea for the torch was that it was going to use the same 2170 Lithium cell the main battery pack uses. 2170 cells generally have a nominal capacity of about 5,000mAh so it wouldn't have been a terrible power bank, not a great one, but certainly usable. Instead, Rivian ultimately decided to go with the much smaller 18650 cell in the torch which has a nominal capacity of only about 2,200mAh which makes it almost useless as a power bank device.

What is the capacity of the currrent Rivian power bank? It isn't stated on the website but one of the photos has a 7000 on it. So I assume it is 7000mAh?

A forum member took one apart, it's 2170 cell only has a 2,00mAh rating.

This is sarcasm about the camp speaker right? The flashlight is substantially better than the speaker because I get light from the flashlight but getting music from the speaker isn’t at all assured.

My speaker works 100% and sounds good, lasts for days on a charge. And can supply power.

Here's a second version, using a different flashlight that I like a little better. Again, doesn't charge in the door cradle, but should stay charged for at least 6 months.

What I like better about it over the HF black one and Rivian original:
  • Brighter than original with zoomable lens for wide field or spotlight
  • Multiple brightness levels + strobe
  • Lens covers in red, blue, and green for signaling, camp courtesy, or not to disturb wildlife
  • White dome lens cover for camp lantern
  • Built in side lantern with white, red, strobe
  • Decent color match
  • Sane price
  • Mechanically attached adapter rather than epoxied.
