We’ve seen a few families making it work, but we’re curious to dig deeper.

What kinds of trips are you taking with kids in your R1T or R1S? Weekend camping? Multi-day overland loops?
What has been your biggest challenge?... range planning, gear space, sleep configuration, charge stop boredom, food (or containing said food)?

We’re always looking to better support family-ready adventures and would love to hear what works (or doesn’t) for you.
Tips, fails, hacks, all welcome 👇

The biggest challenge of doing anything with kids is getting out of the house. Drivetrain doesn't have much to do with it. Between sports, activities, birthday parties, regular errands and life, there isn't much time for big activities.

My best success has been short single-night trips. I'll pick the kids up from school on Friday, and we'll try to get out of town before rush hour. We look for a campsite with less than a two hour drive. This usually means dispersed camping, as reservations book up months in advance.

We'll set up camp Friday evening and maybe hike a little bit before dinner and bed. We wake up the next morning and either explore or head home for other activities.

We recently did a trip like this from Denver to the area around Pike's Peak. We did a separate trip to Pawnee National Grasslands. Both were short enough that we could do them on a single charge.
