I haven't submitted an issue to Rivian about this yet, but wanted to gauge the community. Now this issue doesn't always happen- but sometimes if I'm backing up and want to get a good look out the rear window, I'll push myself a bit higher up using my leg on the floor. This creates an EXTREMELY frustrating response of the vehicle assuming I've left the driver's seat so while backing up slowly, it suddenly decides to ram itself into P (park). Probably not as likely for taller drivers, but I do this pretty commonly in lots of vehicles- and I know it's been reported as problematic with other vendors.
Seems overly conservative when there are other hints that could be used to ensure the driver is present. e.g. Require one of drivers door close OR seat sensor OR speed < 3mph in R. If all 3 unmet, sure- shift into park. I'm really just curious if others have this issue- I already know it doesn't happen to everyone, so no need for a "works for me just fine" sound off. I do hope this gets addressed though.
