EZ-Pass mounting location ideas

I mount mine on the black plastic that houses the camera and sensors behind the rear view mirror. This way it is not “on” the windshield glass

Our EZ-Pass is used mostly on rental vehicles, since our home on the West Coast is very far from any EZ-Pass area.

We acquired our most recent replacement EZ-Pass from the Pennsylvania Turnpike Authority. They had, and I presume still have, a small box that attaches to the inside of the windshield with high-quality suction cups.

The only trouble we ever had was that I forgot to remove it before returning a rental car to Avis' large Union Station site in Washington DC. It never turned up. The Turnpike Authority was very good about replacing it at a fair price, but I think I should have written my first name and phone number on the side of the box that faces away from the windshield.

In CA we have external stickers on our headlights. For rental cars we just go in and add the rental car license plate to our account with an end date. We have not had any issues with that method.

Sticker user here. I believe you can still get the transponder if you ask, that way you can use it with rentals.

you can't--the sticker can't be transferred. removing the sticker ruins it.

The stickers used in Texas can be reused if you remove them carefully. I've had the same sticker applied 3 times now - originally on my Nissan, transferred to a new windshield after a crack formed, and now transferred to my R2. I don't squeegee the sticker on super hard so it is easier to get off, and I try not to pull at too extreme of an angle. The RFID circuit is flexible enough that this doesn't damage it.

If you're moving it frequently, I'd recommend putting in on something else that you then stick/tape to the windshield, as others have said.
