[Factory PPF damaged] Rivian painted our vehicles with crayons

I'm on a roll today with posts...

I went to go wash the truck at a self-service car wash, where I just use the pressure washer and hand wash my truck. I was spraying an area on the right-side on the gear tunnel when I noticed something strange happening. The clear coat (I think) started to peel off. Attached a photo to show... ugh.

It’s not clear coat it’s the PPF they add on from the factory only on the tunnel doors.

OooooooOOooooo gotcha! Phew. Good to know. Do you know if that's repairable (or if it even should be)? Or is that something that should come off then get reapplied?

Your choice is to rip it off and have some PPF reapplied or just rip it off and forget about it.

Personally it's a truck so I went for option 2 when this happened to me off-roading.

That amount of damage requires a new application of PPF/wrap.

What do you mean? If you see something I don't, it might just be lighting for the car wash bay I was in hitting it funny.

The blue crayon looking mark, I had a similar yellow one when I dropped something out of the bed and it nicked the gear tunnel door, but luckily no damage.

Ahh gotcha. Not sure where that came from. Maybe someone drew on it with an actual crayon . But really, if I were to guess, someone may have knicked the truck and caused that while I wasn't around it. Back then the Gear Bear thing only recorded events like that when it wanted to lol

You have to be careful with pressure washers and PPF, especially around the edges and damaged areas.

That is 100% damaged PPF. I do wonder what hit OP, or OP hit with that door when it opened.

There are vendors that sell DIY PPF and it would be easy and cheaper to do yourself.
