I would absolutely go for a tour. I'd even be willing to pay for a tour to offset the costs of staffing such events.
I’d be willing to pay for a tour, too! Especially if it included a Rivian-branded hard hat which you have to wear and get to keep. They could even end the tour at a gift shop for additional Rivian-branded stuff to buy/revenue.

I have always been interested in pick up at the factory and a tour would even be better. My plan is to ride my Guzzi from Pgh , take delivery of my R1T, load the bike in the back, and drive home........maybe not directly though. I guess I could take a detour through Colorado.

I'm too far to make a tourist stop to the factory but if I could do a tour, pick up my R1S in May/June, and get a little time on the track there... I'd absolutely fly in to do that and drive it home.

If the "tour" also included track time... I'd go and pay.

FWIW, in ATL Porsche (and others across the country) have experience centers where you can drive around specialty built courses. These cost $600-$1,000+ per person. Doing a factory tour then having 1-2 hours on their test track and Mt. Rivian would be awesome. I'm assuming they basically have this planned given the test track on the books for the GA factory.

Ok ladies and gentleman. I think some people took my post to mean factory pickup is on the table. I should clarify what CS told me. They told me they plan to offer tours soon... Not factory pickup.

This does not imply that they will offer factory pickup options for people wanting to take delivery in Normal. That's a completely different topic. Perhaps this will be an option in the future. Based on the responses here, factory pickup would be popular... if offered.

I had taken note that on two of the TFL Rivian reviews, the guys stated that they were told that there would be factory deliveries. They also mentioned that they guy who brought them the Rivian was Rivian Employee #4. That's about as high up as you can get.

I don't see why they wouldn't do factory deliveries. It would probably save them about $1,000 per vehicle as opposed to home delivery.

Save that money and charge another 500 for factory delivery and tour.

I would pay them…. already planned out the route home on A Better Routeplanner.

I would do the same. We have a plan to take our Airstream up to Normal with our Diesel Silverado, get a campsite for the Airstream, and settle in for a couple of days.

We will pick-up our R1T at the factory, and probably spend a couple of days in mid Illinois checking out the small towns in the area This is our normal Airstream travel routine. We will then hook the Airstream to the back of our Rivian and start making our way back to Florida. SuEllyn will tow the Airstream with the Rivian, and I will follow in the Silverado and enjoy the view.
