Yes, and they are literally like gold here. Only 150 or so allowed each year in a lottery system. Way less than a 10% chance of winning one each year. Probably closer to 5% or so by now. Violation of beach driving is $500 and forever losing your chance at lottery.

No the sand right now is fairly damp from all the rain. In the summer it turns to pure white sugar 3 feet deep and many vehicles sink. Had to help get a vintage LandRover out last year With my Wrangler JLU 4.5“ lift that is now on the market.

How was the range? My soft sand experience gave me about 1/6 of the normal range. Granted I was hitting it pretty hard but still, 1/6 (so, about 0.3-0.5 mi/kWh) was pretty disappointing and makes my annual trips to the NC Outer Banks pretty close to infeasible without some sacrifice. Next time I go, I plan to use All Purpose mode as much as possible.

Soft Sand mode is amazing though, I actually TRIED to get stuck and the R1T just crawled right out.

I was out Sunday morning. Can confirm that the sand is wet and packed down right now, I aired down since it was my first time in this truck with street tires (normally I use an old JeepYJ), but probably didn’t need too. Summer will be a different story for sure!
