Feed back appreciated- I took the R1T to the local Xpel dealer for PPF plus ceramic on the entire truck, and was told for the cleanest look, all new emblems would need to be purchased and reinstalled. What? And on the LE, there are many. (Doors, front, and tail gate) Cutting around them would not look good. If emblem cut outs are done by the computer for the R1T, the material stretches and also the location of the emblems are often different on each vehicle. This may not look good either. Another option would be to re-use the emblems and apply new double side tape, which is a very time consuming process, and also may not look as well as expected. I’m looking for some feedback from those with more experience on what to do. I am not crazy about spending extra for emblems on top of very pricey ppf. Out of curiosity I called CS to find out cost of emblems and eta. No response as of yet, but I would hate to go this route. Maybe the look of going around them won’t look too bad? This was the dealers first Rivian to work on. I suspect others will have the same issues. Thoughts?

I agree with your PPF installer. Remove the badges and either replace or reuse or just leave them off.

Cost to replace them is probably less than the extra labor would cost to have the installer try to work around the badges.

If Rivian outright refuses to sell replacements that's a problem. Not just for this but also for the inevitable collision repairs.

If they just say it'll take a while that's fine, even if you like the badges it's not the end of the world too drive around without badges for a few weeks.

I definitely like the badges. Wondering if Rivian will sell them, and if so how s00n?

Why are the existing ones not re-usable? When I PPF'ed my Tesla, the installer just heatgun'ed the emblem and they came off easily, we then lined them up and put them right on after the PPF settled. This is SoP for the PPF guys. What makes Rivian emblems different?

I was told reusing the glue and heating is a possibility depending on the type of glue Rivian used. Apparently sometimes it works on teslas. No guarantees.

I am guessing in the $5k to $8k range.

The best price I found for our Model Y was $5500 for the entire car. I elected to do the entire front end and a few other scuff areas like the door sills, tailgate ledge, etc. For $1800.

Reinstalling emblems works on Porsche too (and everything else).
This installer is just ridiculous or doesn’t know what they are doing.

Also saying that emblems are in a different spot on each truck is non sense. There are templates for emblem placement.

I think you need to get a few more estimates for PPF before you settle on one quote. I have been putting PPF on my vehicles for 15 years (all the way from BMW to Fords) and never once have had to purchase new emblems.

Like others have said, the tape is almost always 3M and it can be removed with heat and then new tape applied. If your PPF installer is to lazy to do this and wants to charge you and arm and a leg - please find another PPF installer.

The advice from your ppf installer is different than the info I received last year.

I had a Mach e treated with Expel last year, and they simply removed and reinstalled all the emblems. They didn't even bring this up as it's an expected part of Expel installation.

Thanks for your reply. I failed to mention my installer is willing to take off and reinstall the emblems, at no extra cost. He said it may not look as good and said I would be better off replacing. The decision is mine to make.
