It works, but it needs some work.
it only stays in that mode up to 10mph. So if the attendant goes to 11 he automatically cancels the mode.
also, it’s still Confusing to get the truck in neutral for those no familiar with it. Mostly because you can’t do so when the truck door is still open. Car wash attendant won’t know that. So someone ended up driving the car through. I wanted to stay out of the equation as much as possible to see how it goes.

Edit: This is a full-service car wash. Not self-service. So you don't drive your own car through, they just send it through.

The door->park thing is a bit nuts. "Safety" … results in driving with the door open and left-foot braking … to move the car three feet … risking hitting the garage wall at 50 mph (after three feet of acceleration … : )

I generally don't try to drive my car while washing it so I guess I don't live as dangerously as I thought I did
You haven't lived my friend if you haven't attempted to floor it through a carwash.

On a positive note, your truck looks fantastic freshly washed! :like: I hope you have fun with your R1T this weekend, even if it gets dirty again in the process.

Funny enough, YouTube decided I needed to see this just before seeing your comment. :p

Does anyone know how to tell the truck to stay in Neutral?
I can put it in neutral, but as soon as I open the door and the truck begins to move it automatically shifts to park. Pretty annoying cause ideally once it’s in neutral it would stop trying to save me from myself.

I guess I need to explain how like 100% of all car washes work.
the car gets loaded in neutral and is pushed through the tunnel by the wheel conveyor mechanism. If you wash your car at home then you don’t have to deal with this problem of course, but if you take it to a car wash then …

Interestingly, literally none of the carwash locations in my locale have this conveyor system - you just pull in, sit there stationary while the machine does its thing, then pull out. I've experienced the conveyor travelling about, but there's nothing like it 'round here.

We have the conveyor but never get out of the car so this problem of opening the door while in neutral is foreign to me. And apparently to Rivian as well.

Okay, I'm starting to see where the disconnect is. Lol. My bad.
This is not a self-serve car wash. Its a full service car wash.
They take your car, and they feed it through the tunnel, then they polish and dry it for you. Very typical for CA car washes at least.
I agree, at a self-serve place you would not get out of the truck. lol.

Would be cool to have them limit the speed in car wash mode to 10 mph.

We know they can because rock crawl mode is limited to 20 mph.

Seems like you'll have to tell them how to put it in Neutral. I actually don't recall anywhere around me that has automatic car washes where you don't remain in the car either.

That being said, when I was in a high school there was a new one in town and my then girlfriend's mom took her BMW to it. It's fuzzy, but I *think* they forced you to get out of the car or something, and she told them that the doors would lock automatically. But they ignored her. And for some reason I think they had to leave the keys in the ignition. She wasn't pleased with the situation afterwords.
