26k miles logged in a single owned R1s gen1 quad motor

while waiting for the Appointment for June 13th, figure ill document what's going with my Charging experience.

95% of charge is done overnight at home, Tesla mobile charger to the Wall Nema 14-50.

ever since owning, the Tesla to a j1772 adapter have given me a 14-15mile per hour charge (28-30 on Wife's Tesla mode Y) so using that as a base. Thursday night May 1st I plugged in and it start at the 14mile per hour. walked away and an hour later while closing the windows(kid leave them opened) I noticed its at a staggering 3mi/hr. tried unplugging, blowing to clear any non existence debris with no change, pulled out the rivian mobile charge and the same result. plugged the Tesla back in to see that it was functioning normal for 30minute.

went for a drive to a Tesla charger and was able to get a charge from 40% SOC to 67% within normal range. once it hit 67% everything dropped to 0 mi/hr. stopped from the dash and unpluged. moved to a EA charger where I was able to get from 66% to 79% where its again halted to 0 mi/hr with no notification a problem occurring. while unhappy with it, it was enough for me to use for the next few days.

Onto Sunday May 4th with a EVgo charger at work, I plugged for a quick top off while dropping off supplies, I got a start up charge within normal speed but after that 13mins, and checking my phone. my EVgo app pushed a notification that there was a disconnection and while look at the Rivian app the charger started to ramp down rate of charge 5min from plugging in with their notification "stopped by charger". three more attempt to restart with only a "disconnection please retry". with only 70% I clinched and hope it last me few extra days in conserve and driving the Tesla in between.

Fast forward to Friday May 9th, went to ANOTHER Tesla charger before picking up family at airport. arrived at Wawa Tesla charger with 28% SOC was able to get to 60% SOC where i'm comfortable going to and from airport without them waiting. Upon stopping from dash and unpluging, and when I got back into the car, I got that dreaded Turtle icon which wouldn't allow me to drive to where I need to be. Hard reset with the steering wheel and hazard button. waited and once it all restarted it all seem normal, late for pick up, I just went with it and came back home safely with everyone.

Coming back around to just yesterday morning Sunday May 11th ( appointment cant come soon enough haha) , got out for a coffee and when I went back into the car and start the drive, the orange/amber Battery icon which I assumed the 12v? appeared on the driver screen. quickly turned the car around switched car and left it there for the day. night time when I came back from mother's day events, I moved the Rivian to the street parking to allow guest a safe place to park overnight, the Icon was still there, once again did a hard reset, the Icon wasn't there, so I took a 10min drive around just to see if anything triggered it all was cleared.

just for sake of getting a charge, I did plug in this morning only to still get a 3mi/hr charge. leaving it plugged in so I have something for the week without paying ANOTHER Tesla, EA or Evgo charge.
Everything from the slow charge and battery icon incident have both been sent to a request on the app with an appointment date June 11th as a "mobile Service" in New Jersey. hoping I get pushed up a bit sooner. Month of charging like this and possible battery failure while commute daily driving kids going to drive me nuts, maybe haha.

SO.....has this happened to others yet? any other suggestions on pushing to get a quicker date to get seen? or even know how long the 'fix' would be? Also posting this is I can easier show and remember what happened in case another advisor ask again what happened.

Cheers!

This sounds frustrating. I am sorry to hear of your experience.

The miles per hour thing will be lower with Rivian vs a Tesla. Larger battery and lower efficiency means it takes longer to charge it and you get less miles out of the same energy.

The fast charging does sound like a problem. Let us know what service does to resolve it. Have you had the 12v battery replacement?

From your description, it seems both L2 and L3 charging are affected, so logic implies a common component. One possibility is the temperature sensor on the charge port which is intended to detect a high temperature at the charge port and throttle or shut down charging. If that sensor is failing it could be indicating a temperature higher than actual, triggering the safety logic.

update:

May 13th, Charged at EA by Target 67kWh in 52 mins. after the charge I got the turtle mode warning. so soft reset (steer
ring wheel buttons), nothing changed so did hazard light+ left steering wheel buttons to reboot, but this time same turtle mode which usually go away, thinking it'' clear after a short drive, but that gets me 20-25MPH can get to 30 but that pressing down on pedal. pulled over to call support. they guided me quickly on the phone but doing the same 2 reboot I did earlier. they ultimately referred me to drive safely home (10min away but took 20min with the limited speed) which I was okay with. got home and did the 'sleep cycle turning off gearguard, proximity lock etc for atleast an hour. it did resolved. so they didn't need to send service. maybe I'm just easy going, I didn't push it further.
following that, two more charging at 1am for lower cost charging time. I haven't need to do the sleep cycle, charger still stopped around 60% SOC.
May 16th - Same EA charger by Target, I was able to top of to 80% but this time I was instead of driving off, I was on phone for 15-20min before I departed, thankfully this time no hiccup, only the 0kWh charge by 80%. no Turtle mode.

today May 21 we still having not great charge. so charge at home with the same Nema to Mobile Tesla charger. getting 2-4mile per hour, on the app states "30kW added in 13hr 9min" or 63 miles added? too lazy to go get a charge outside and deal with the turtle warning. so get whatever I can to be able to drive to and from work the next day. haha all this DC fast charge is adding up and hurting my wallet a bit. even at discounted rate at some charger late at night.

noticed now that after every charge, near the end and after unplugging, the sound that like when precondition batter ramps up for 10-15secs, stopped for a few minutes before repeating that cycle over. sound is very loud. been recorded and upload with my service ticket/chat already. still no change in earlier date. attempted to plug into a 100kWh EA station only to get 8miles per hour. didn't even bother staying longer than 5min since the 350kWh opened up next to me.

no 12v battery has been replaced, the warning no long appears on the screen.

I wonder if it’s an issue with the hvac system. The battery has a cooling plate which when oversaturated and unable to cool further will trigger reduced charging currents. The fact you are able to initially charge and then it stops implies a potential cooling system failure.
