Last week the dreaded turtle came on the dash limiting me to 30 mph. Despite reboots had to be flatbedded to the SC.

Got her back yesterday (7 days) here is the report:

Concern: - Customer states after driving this morning in his vehicle, there was a limited performance telltale that popped up along with multiple "disabled" telltales. This first occurred around 9:20AM EST 01/18/2024

Cause: - Confirmed customer consern.Vehicle operates in limp mode with yellow tell tale on dash. Observed Cloud data and found DTC related to wheel FR speed signal. During phisical inspection found FR halfshaft popped out of drive unit. disassembled front right corner suspension and insnected halfshaft and slines in drive unit - found damage on stop-ring on inner CV axle. replaced FR halfshaft assemly.

Anyone else seen this?
If you have was it one and done?
What Is "DTC" ?
Assume "slines" is Splines ?
Seemed to be a pretty easy mechanical fix. Should they have replaced all halfshafts?
I have always some ticking sounds when I start a drive and assumed this was the car elevating after being in kneel mode. Is this the tocking people talk about (shaft related)?

Conclusion About Rivian Service:
While I hated not having my 10 week old S for a week service was excellent.
The flatbed came on the evening of the day the problem started.
They offered me a rental- which I declined and gave me Uber credit which I have not used. No towing charges.
While a snowstorm delayed the evaluation a bit I was kept apprised and informed- the vehicle was ready 3 days sooner than I expected.
I coincidentally had a scheduled appointment next week, but they were able to accomplish those tasks with this one visit saving me another trip to the SC.

Overall very pleased, Love my R1S, hopefully one and done. The only thing I can't afford to lose in the vehicle is confidence.

Not sure if I've heard it happening in the front, but others have reported the rear coming out.

I think a few may have had it reoccur but I suspect it was just reassembled instead of replaced.

Diagnostic Trouble Code, industry standard terminology.

Yes.

No, likely just an initial assembly problem where the halfshaft wasn't fully seated into the drive unit because the stop-ring was damaged. This ring is what keeps the axle from coming loose from the drive unit easily. They probably just took a quick glance at all of the other ones to verify they weren't coming out and didn't register it in the ticket.

Your vehicle probably already has the new washers for the axle clicking issues. Only happens when starting after regen. The air valves in the R1S can actuate at any time and are definitely audible in the cabin when you don't have the stereo on.

Like darkfx said I think it's an initial assembly issue. Haven't seen this happen too often.

Thank you for clarifying. Feels like I am good to go.
