Has anyone replaced just the Sub or Sub/Amp?

I found a reddit post from someone who has done this. Just curious as to how costly it would be to just replace the sub or if there would need to be an amp installed as well. I don't have a ton of experience with Audio.

IMO, adding a sub/amp to the existing setup would be the best option. The existing sub enclosure is pretty small and limited in what drivers you can use. There's nothing particularly "wrong" about the stock sub other than it's lack of output. Some people have placed a sub in the driver's side storage area under the seat after removing the plastic tray.

I had a stereo shop install the 10" JL subwoofer (mentioned above) in the gear tunnel. Wonderful sound! It's rugged and takes up little space. I'm still able to toss stuff into the gear tunnel. Sound is best if I open the back seat hatch to the tunnel, but even with it closed, the base is smooth, strong and abundant . Shakes the whole cab if I open it up.
