Can Rivian please listen to all the crazy things people are dreaming up to hack the Rivian into not draining so much idle power (vampire load)? Rivian, are you monitoring this? Are you working on this issue. It'll save millions of kWh, save all your customers money and waste less energy needlessly.

I recently came across on another forum (different make and model vehicles) how the key fob keeps the vehicle wake all the time.

Regardless of if one locks or keeps unlocked in the garage, if the key fob is within the BT range, it will keep the vehicle up all the time.

Having the phone within range will have the same effect.

The solution is to keep the key fobs in a Faraday box like this:

No need to disable BT. Just close the Rivian app on the phone, by swiping it away, and the car will no longer see it. That’s the way it works on my iPhone.

That is incorrect. The car will still detect and wake the computers up.

If I close the Rivian app competely, not only am I notified that the phone can no longer be used as a key, but also the phone no longer appears as a connected device in my BT settings. As soon as I open the app, the phone automatically appears as connected in my BT settings. I often leave my phone in my car, as I primariy use the fob to lock/unlock and drive the truck. IF the phone and app are closed, the car locks/unlocks normally via the fob. IF the phone is waking the car, it is not doing it via BT, as far as I can tell. If the phone is sleeping and the app is closed, with no BT connection, how is it waking the truck? Just curious.

Check on electrafi.com. You'll see your vehicle sleeping and waking multiple times due to that, even with the app closed.

So, the $64K question is - how is the vehicle seeing the phone, without a BT connection?

Let me back up a step. My original comment was addressing an apparent need that BT needed to be turned off on the phone. I was only saying, that as far as I can tell, once the Rivian app is closed, the BT connection between the car and phone no longer exists. This can be verified in the phone BT settings. There appears to be no need to completely turn off BT on the phone. If the car is still somehow seeing the phone, well……….

When Bluetooth is completely off from the phone, vehicle won't see it/connect it, of course.

But when BT is on, even if the app is forced closed, the sensors will detect The BT MAC address of the phone without doing a connection to it.

Also, for funsies, even if you turn BT off completely but you keep your phone nearby your Rivian for some time, Rivian will briefly wake and go back to sleep shortly after. Don't know why but I tested this multiple times and never fails.
