It Happened to me... dreaded turtle. Towed for repair

R1S was preconditioned in my garage. 80% battery. Battery and cabin warm. Outside in the 20's. Left for work and about 5 min away- vehicle alert "functionality decreased" and then the dreaded turtle. Was able to limp home under 30MPH. Hard Reset - nope. Wait through a sleep cylcle -Nope. Repeat --nope. Rivian assistance was able to have my vehicle towed by flatbed to the SC. Tow driver was happy that at least he could drive mine up the flatbed ramp under is own power, apparently that was not the case for 4 others he picked up recently. Also told me that Maryland SC has been transporting vehicles to Richmond SC for repairs. Hope that is not the case with me . Hope it's one of the quick and easy fixes. Just Sharing..... Sorry the dash photo is blurry I was distracted.

First I'm hearing about transporting to Richmond SC. Doesn't make sense for them to do that bc it's over 130 miles away. Gaithersburg just opened about six months ago but they have a nice facility there. Have had three service appointments with them. Two for T and one for S.

Yup, first first I heard that too. The facility is nice. I picked up my S at the beginning of November.

How old is your Rivian? How many miles?

FWIW, I think most turtles emerge <10k miles.

This happened to me on Dec 16 and I still haven’t got my truck back yet. Hopefully you have a better time with the service center.

When it happened to me, they could not find any problem and the truck went back to working fine. They could see that an 'event' happened but nothing about it. The kept it about a week. It's been fine since (fingers crossed).

Did you notice loss of traction control or regenerative braking in the few days prior?

Hd no problems that I was aware of.

I ask bc my iPace (and my brother-in-law’s R1S) had a similar issue (turtle + shut down) but we both noted traction control and regenerative braking faulting 1-2 days before.
just a thought for those in the future.
he also had <2000 miles on his.
hope you get it back soon - his has been fine since.
