Not trying to persuade anyone from dropping any R1 reservations. At first I thought we were going to hold out for an R2 for the wife (who knows, maybe we will someday), but this thing looks too good to be true! The price is excellent.

I figure it can't hurt to put down the refundable deposit. Value proposition is strong. I've driven a polestar and generally liked it.

Maybe next year we'll be a full EV household.

You can’t fit a long dog in there!

Shame it's made in China. If we were adding a 7500 tax credit back in then this thing would disrupt.

Hopefully Volvo will offer $7500 off on leases like they do with their current models. That would make the lease terms pretty attractive.

We’re probably getting one, too. It’ll be the Human Transport Vehicle, while the Rivian will still reign as a Multi-Species transporter (with long dog).

Thanks for posting this. I just reserved one, too, as a potential replacement for our Jeep Cherokee in Hawaii. My wife prefers smaller vehicles. The EX30 reminds me of an electric Cherokee, although it’ll lack the off-road chops of our Cherokee, which is the Trailhawk trim.

It does look appealing. I checked the Volvo site in the UK which is a configurator and dimension specs. Second row legroom looks poor at around 33”. Depending on your use case this could be a deal breaker.
I like the customization they offer - four interior colors.

It is only 167 inches long? Jeez that's much shorter than I would have expected. Seems like a great starter EV for commuters. Compelling price point and styling.

You know - I posted that and got in my truck to drive home and thought to myself that it was you that had the long dog. My apologies to you and your giraffe/ dog mix!

I meet too many long dogs in my week to keep them all straight :giggle:

I like the EX30 design and specs - it just looks very small to me.

Volvo needs to offer an EX30 “R” version for auto enthusiasts. Add wheels, lower profile tires, better performance, lowered suspension, sport seats, etc. It would be the first GTI sized BEV hot hatch to hit the market.

Is it just a replacement for the C40? I test drove a Volvo fully electric car (not sure I remember the model) at the Bloc in DT Los Angeles at there showroom. I wasn't too impressed at the time. Maybe they are better now?

I think it looks better tech wise than the XC40 recharge does.

Can I just remind everyone that you are reserving a first generation vehicle made in China?

I'm sure it will have 0 gremlins, especially considering the 0 gremlins that other first generation vehicles have.
