Key fob quandary

My key fob's basic functions work: opening the truck, locking the truck, opening the frunk, dropping the tailgate. At the same time, the driver/key section shows that the fob needs to be setup. I have tried to do that hoping that I would then have access to proximity unlocking from the fob. Long/short: can't do it. Holding down the two top buttons on the fob, nope. Restarting the infotainment (two outermost steering wheel buttons) and then trying again: nope. Restarting the truck (leftmost steering wheel button and hazard button) and then trying again: nope. Nope has outlasted hope.

Suggestions, comments, commiserations?

Same exact issue with me. I haven't contacted Rivian because I don't use the key fob much at all, but all the symptoms you describe match mine.

Same problem here too. It's on the list of things to reach out to service for but is somewhat low priority.

i had this issue and filed a service ticket. when a technician was out to fix a different issue, I pointed this fob issue out. he could not fix right there (even had his laptop plugged into the truck). but he talked to someone on the phone and the "Setup" message disappeared about a week later. i then got an email closing the ticket and it said that the issue was fixed on their end. so maybe it is worth filing a ticket?

It's certainly something that can be fixed remotely. There's a "Fob Team" that Service has to engage.

My fob wasn't paired on delivery, and it would never respond to the setup screen. They were able to push an update to the truck that allowed it to pair, and all functions now work, buttons and proximity key.

Had this same issue, put in a ticket in mid-February for a end-of-march service appointment. Tried a new battery, did a software update while waiting. Long story short, at my service appointment they said the keyfob had a digit transposed @ purchase, did a back-end fix and the setup prompt went away. In the meantime proximity locking with fob AND phone have ceased to work, but the buttons are fine. Need to put in another ticket I guess.

Do that, I've come to like proximity functions on the fob.
