Anyone know if the key fob uses Bluetooth? My work place prohibits Bluetooth electronics.

It's infuriating they went with Bluetooth. Range is terrible and it's incredibly slow to respond, even when you're standing right next to the vehicle and it's already awake.

what's the reason behind banning BT at work? just curious

also how is it enforced? like how would anyone know you are carrying a FOB in your pocket or bag?

I mean you didn't KNOW it was BT until you asked this question ;)

There must be equipment or processors that are BT controlled and any "noise" could cause problem?
He likely works in a controlled space that doesn't allow wireless transmission at all (think secure government buildings) like I do. We do regular active and passive scans to detect these items so, yes, we can and will detect these FOBs.

Since the fob does utilize BT, you can/should use your key card and/or the wrist band if you have one.

Also curious what you do with your phone??? If your phone is placed in a secure and shielded location once you arrive to work, couldn't your fob also be placed there? I can't imagine that you leave your phone at home. Just curious... ?

Any place I work that doesnt allow phones has phone boxes where people keep wearable fitness devices and phones.

Can you post the specific wording of this? My son works in a TS military facility and he's never mentioned BT specifically, but now I wonder. Obviously it says cameras, recording devices, wireless communication devices. But fobs would be interesting. And you can steal just as much data, with MORE range, with the normal fob frequencies of 315 MHz and 433 MHz.

Facilities are all different on how they treat devices. You can google the military stance on wireless devices, but facilities can ignore that and be more restrictive.

I know, that's why I asked for the specific wording. No need to google it, worked in one, had a TS-SCI.

I can give you the specific wording for the facility I currently work in, but that has nothing to do with where OP works nor where your son works

Yeah, again why I asked. If yours has BT wording, then that would be interesting too.
