Is there a reason the tonneau cover needs the locking mechanism on the last panel? The only advantage I can think of is securing the panels if you wanted to drive with the tailgate down.
My tonneau cover latch broke during a service visit. I assume the technician pulled too hard and the string snapped off on the left side. Rivian mailed me a new panel, so it wasnāt a big deal. If it happens again I would be tempted to just remove the two spring loaded latches in order to simplify removing the last panel.
