Please help. Two observations when cleaning out the middle row of my wife’s R1S tonight after a family trip. 1st is that on the middle row driver side seatbelt the black wire which goes into the plastic box you click the seat belt into has ripped out. 2nd is that the belt which connects this box to the seat seems to be longer than on the passenger side in the middle row. Is this wire related to the tensioner mechanism? I ask because my wife has been complaining that my little guy in his booster seat keeps having his seatbelt lock up while he’s wearing it. Is it safe to use the seatbelt until I can get it in for service? Also does anyone else have the length discrepancy of the middle row driver and passenger belts? Please see the pictures. Thank you!

Exact thing happened on mine. I haven’t noticed any ill effects but I have a mobile appt in a few weeks to take a look. I was thinking it could become an issue if they enable seatbelt alerts for the rear seats

I can't tell you for sure, because I've never had a Rivian seat belt apart before, but I have rebuilt a few cars, including removing and replacing seatbelts. I am 90% sure this will NOT affect the safety of your seatbelt. The strap itself bolts into the vehicle's frame with a substantial fastener, which absorbs the load. I'm betting that black strap is so the belt doesn't get lost under the seat or doesn't rub against the seat material, but has nothing to do with the safety of the belt itself.

EDIT: After looking closer I am 95% sure it's still safe as I think I know what the black wire is for. It keeps the buckle positioned in the notch of the seat for aesthetic reasons. This also explains the length discrepancy.
