I have been moving (slowly) from Huntsville AL to Chattanooga TN over the last few weeks. Thought I would throw my experience into the ring for anyone else needing some towing experiences.
The plan and route was to charge to 100% (286 miles with no trailer) at the Mercedes Benz Charge Point chargers at the Bucee's in Tanner Al, then to the independent U-haul dealer to get the trailer, then to the storage to load outdoor lawn stuff, and then to the new house in St. Elmo District of Chattanooga TN. That route is listed as 141 miles on Google Maps.
The kicker is there are NO DCFC chargers anywhere near the route until Chattanooga. I don't have my Rivian-Tesla adapter yet so using the Tesla Superchargers in Huntsville, Kimbal TN, or Chattanooga are out.
The trailer empty was 2000 pounds, loaded showed to be 2500 pounds while in all purpose standard height (no changes from daily driving). I did drop to lowest height at a coffee stop to see if the mileage estimate would change - it showed a decrease in mileage and the weight went to 3000 pounds (which makes sense but not what I expected). Ended up going back to standard height and weight went back to 2500. Overall the numbers fluctuated some based on the computer updating based on my driving.
Speed limit on the route varied up to 65 MPH. I mostly stuck to the MPH with empty stretches of HWY 72 doing MPH + 5. Hit 78 twice to make a pass of vehicles going below speed limits.
Ended up only being a 134.34 mile trip. Here are the pics:
EDIT - FINAL MILEAGE and %
