Thanks for question - the Columbia, South Carolina site was very easy. Pulled straight into charger at far end, which was one of the units identified as CCS capable, pushed button to access charger and connected to my vehicle. It read my vehicle just like at RAN and sent charge fee through RAN. Very easy - no different than a RAN stop. No need for Tesla app - and plenty of access without compromising another charger
@AnninSI - oh thanks for sharing, this is so good to know and really makes me feel so much better! I'm doing this 1200 mile trip by myself and have only had one other road trip experience, which was short in comparison, so have been a little keyed up. Thanks for putting my mind at ease!

25-30% mark-up…
No. Rivian does NOT "mark-up" the Tesla price. That implies that Rivian is raising the price and keeping a cut. That's not even remotely true.

Tesla publishes its prices for each charger, so you can see exactly what you will pay. Rivian charges you exactly that. If you want to pay Tesla EXTRA for a monthly membership, you can get a DISCOUNT by getting the membership and paying with the Tesla app. That discount might be worth it depending on how often you will use the Tesla chargers. Other charging networks like EA also have a monthly membership with a discount. But in no case can this be construed as Rivian charging you 25-30% more.

@Dirtman16 - thanks, this is super helpful. I downloaded Chargeway and see what you mean. And my mistake, the Tesla stop is in Columbia, SC and when I tap on charger info, it indicates unlocking the CCS, so I believe it's a magic dock and will be ok.
Your Rivian mapping will tell every charger that is available and the settings allow you to hide chargers that need adapters. It will also say you might need an app to start a charge. For example you need a Chargepoint app to use Chargepoint charges and FPL chargers in FL require their app. The Rivian mapping works really well and it is all I use now. Just did a 3200 mile trip and it’s all I used. Once in a while I find a charger not on the mapping program, but it is usually new or run by a municipality and is free. Google has been good for these chargers. After your first trip it will all seem easy.

@Treebeard I’m on my trip now and it’s going well. Charging has been pretty easy especially at RAN and Tesla. I’m thankful for the folks who chimed in here to help. The nav system really is incredible. And I love how I pick up a few more miles as a little buffer between charge stops
