can you please gives us as much feedback on the Rivian Insurance coverage/rates/etc?

is it required?
how much is it?

Thank you
My quote from Rivian/National was $650 for 250/500 for 6 months. My bundled policy with existing carrier is $400 for 250/500 for 6 months; $40 more per 6 months compared to my 4 year old GLS 450. I am surprised the R1S isn't a lot higher given the high repair costs (and lack of data) for Rivians.

I haven’t had to get a quote yet, but did you try ACSC/AAA? If you already have a membership they tend to be competitive based on past experience.
AAA was not competitive for me.

Just to clarify, insurance rates are different for every single person and situation.

The only helpful info here is to tell us what you're paying now with your current vehicles, and then tell us what the Rivian will be. You'll need to tell us what your current vehicle costs to insure, and then what the cost of the Rivian is after replacing it.

I just received a quote from my Farmer's agent here in SoCal and almost fell out of my chair:

$1,364 per 6 months with a $1,000 deductibel!

Any of my SoCal folks got other options/alternatives?
Just got a quote from Farmers for an R1T located in Arkansas. About $100 less than you quote. Seems a little odd.......

When I first transferred my State Farm policy to the R1S, I was paying $137 a month. They initially priced it out as a R1T because they didn't have the R1S in their system yet. My policy recently renewed and they now have it properly listed as a R1S, but the price shot up to $180 a month. I might need to shop around again.

Just priced out my R1S with Rivian Insurance. For the Rivian and my Taycan I was quoted ~$1450 with a progressive (current provider) and ~$1050 with Rivian/Nationwide. Bundling my home and get another 20% off that.

Getting R1S delivered on Saturday…didn’t have time to cross shop and just called my Allstate guy. $1781 every 6 months. That’s $475 more than my Porsche and $701 more than my x5 e45…bonkers expensive - I’ll be shopping around when things settle

Costco Connect insurance went up $59/6 months, going from a similar sized 7 seater Ford Flex.

For those with progressive, have you had an issue that the VIN is not recognized. I have confirmed the VIN is correct. Delivery expected sometime next week.

Are you saying this as an example of bad or good?

To go from old Flex (station wagon) to new R1S (SUV) ONLY changed the cost by $59/6 mo is great!

Thanks for the info as I too use Connect and wasn't sure how much it will go up when I take delivery.

It was a good thing. I was concerned because EVs seemed to get totaled by the insurance companies a lot more than ICE vehicles. I kept all my same coverage with a $500 deductible.

I don't have my Rivian yet, but my Lucid Air Touring and Model S are ~$800/6mo using Connect by Amfam (Costco Insurance). That's with $100 comp / $500 Coll deductibles.
