I have an adapter for my 2025 Gen2 R1T to power a smart screen, but it isn't working. It won't even power my phone. Upon investigating i lined up the pins from the adapter with the pins on my port and they don't match up. Only 3 pins come with the adapter but one of them plugs into a blank space on my OBD2 port. Is it possible that Rivian made a mistake on my port? The two pins that they are supposed to attach to are the chassis ground and the signal ground.

Only the chassis ground seems to work. The #3 pin is unknown in what it does. It does not provide ground. HELP!

I'm hoping someone else has an OBD2 to usb-c adapter on their Gen2 vehicle and can confirm that the pins on the adapter and the port are similar to mine. Or if there was a mistake made on my OBD2 port from Rivian.

I have an OBD2 USB adapter from EV Sportline for their magsafe charger mount. It Powers the phone just fine. It has two modes that you can choose from with the switch. I is always on, O is supposed to turn off some amount of time after the vehicle goes to sleep.

HOWEVER - it seems that the OBD port is always "awake" so it never actually powers down. CBD if this causes any issues long-term, but so far it's drunks a little power I haven't had anything happen.... Yet

Thanks for letting me know. Any chance you can confirm that your OBD2 port looks the same as mine? Meaning the #4 & #5 pins are both active? A picture would be amazing! Thank you so much. If i can verify this, then it would solve a lot of problems.

Mine does appear to be the same as you. So I'm guessing your problem is upstream. Maybe the connector on the other side is not plugged in?

That panel is actually extremely easy to pull down, just a single Torx screw. You might be able to see if everything is plugged in firmly behind it

That's good news i suppose, i couldn't imagine Rivian making a mistake like that. So looking at your adapter, one of the pins doesn't touch anything correct? I believe it's the #5 pin. I tested my #4 pin and it is ground. I also tested #16 and i get the 12v like i'm supposed to.

No idea. I've not tested it haha. If you have power and ground, maybe it's your OBD II adapter?

Gen2 or Gen1 or are you talking about your M3? My EVSportline MagSafe phone mount is behaving the same as Mpshizzle stated. It always stays on.

Thanks for the reply. So on your Gen1 using the Soche OBDII adapter for your Valentine it will power off 15ish minutes after the truck goes to sleep? Just trying to figure out if my issue is with the adapter Evsportline sent or if the Gen2 isn't sending the sleep signal out the OBDII port.

That is correct.

If yours doesn't do it. Then get this one. There is constant on mode and off after 20 minutes
