April 2019 pre order holder R1T. I'm seeing Rivians in Kelowna so I got on there cs chat to find out that if I took delivery now they'd have me sign a waiver that I'd be responsible to bring the vehicle to Vancouver for service regardless of cause. Flatbed over the Coquihala is (I'm guessing) $2000. Next service center built is Calgary which is 9 hours away. Don't know if I have the balls. Thoughts?

It's probably unlikely (but still possible) it would be so dead as to need a flatbed. More likely that you'll need to take it in for something smaller, which you could do under your own power. But might also need to leave it with them if need be... tough call! I was in Penticton for a week 1-2 months ago, I saw one other R1T which was also in from Vancouver for the same conference. Didn't see anything else.

I just picked up a launch green R1S in Vancouver last week and have since brought it to Kelowna where it will live most of the time. I had supplied a Vancouver address to Rivian since we do spend some time there and I thought this might help to speed up delivery. So although I did not have to sign a waiver for service, there is a real risk that it could break down here in Kelowna and I might then have to bear the cost of getting it back to the SC in Vancouver. But I have been encouraged by my 2018 Tesla M3 which has never needed service except once to correct an initial problem with the turn signals that was present upon delivery. I was worried that my R1S might have similar problems to correct imediately after delivery, but fortunately everything is looking good so far!

No hard data, but it seems like most maintenance/repair stuff is related to complicated systems and not the drive train itself.

Most service seems to be related to things like hvac, Bluetooth, air compressor, tonneau, etc. You could get it to the service center yourself for these things. It would still be a PITA, but not a $2k PITA.

Unless you’re the type of person to do a lot of “hold my beer” type stuff. Then anything could break.

you could transport it from kelowna to vsncouver for a lot less than $2000, if you just used a vehicle shipper Vs a tow truck.
