This may be a dumb question… but here goes:

I currently have my charging schedule (at home) set to 12am-3pm daily because that’s the time of my lowest electricity rates. But most days, I unplug the car at 7am to go to work. Some days, if I’ve previously run the battery way down, the battery isn’t fully (I use a 85% limit) charged at 7am. When I look at the charging session history, I notice how the charging rate has been throttled significantly. I wonder if this is because the software is “assuming” I’ll be charging until 3pm with plenty of time to reach my limit. If I set my charging schedule to 12am-7am instead, will the software choose to throttle the charging rate less (because it has less charging time scheduled) resulting in higher charge levels at 7am?

Short answer is no the charging throttle doesn’t have anything to do with scheduling time. Does it give a warning or notification why it is throttling? Warm plug? Tons of people have experienced throttling in cold weather. You have a Gen2? Is it hot where you charge?

My app shows “charging slowed”, but no explanation. Where can I look for this?
The chart below is typical. I start charging at 11kW (close enough to 48A x 220V)… after a few hours (maybe this corresponds to the battery crossing 50%), it slows to 7kW. I don’t know why.

I frequently get this warning / result..my plug get’s to 121 deg F, and it’s VERY warm to the touch. I’m playing around with reducing the charge amps from 48 to 35-ish. I’m not convinced of the efficacy (big word for a Rivian guy! Haha). yes, it’ll slow the charging but I’m hoping it will not let the plug get so warm …BTW, climate controlled garage… 80 degrees…usually charge between 20%-80%

I'm on the same rate plan w/ PG&E with cheapest rates from 12a-3p. Looks like your EVSE is overheating. Reduce the amps to see if that helps to maintain it at a higher level. What charger are you using? If your EVSE is faulty, PG&E has some rebate programs to get new ones.
