I don’t remember putting down $1000. Only $100
Just double checked and my day 2 online reservation for the Model 3 was $1,000. I remember because at the time it felt like a big commitment to make for a car that would be the most expensive vehicle I had ever purchased (at that time). I had returned the night of the reveal from vacation which was why I didn't get my reservation until the morning after. All worked out in my favor though as they came out with the white interior right when I was able to take delivery.

Cybertruck changed to $100 for a reservation though - I just got my invitation to configure there, but will pass on that :) Will eventually cancel that reservation.

Tesla should pay people to reserve a dumpster.

Was just browsing the r/TeslaModelY subreddit and there's an entire thread filled with people saying they just reserved the R2 to replace their MY. I know there were a good number of converts for the R1 platform but this feels like the substantial land grab Rivian needs. Very exciting time for the company.
Why the F* anyone in Colorado or Utah or similar would buy a Subaru at this point I cannot imagine. If I was an executive at Subaru with the "100 mile range EV, only takes an hour to charge" I would start looking for another job. I predict their core demographic of younger adults will stop looking at Subaru and aspire to R2 and buy R3 or R2.

Current Subaru owner checking in. Between my wife and I we've had 5 brand new Subarus since 2017. I want a R2 very badly to replace my Outback. Ideally I'd have a R1S but they're well over what I want to spend.

I'm not looking to make the switch for environmental reasons either. I'm a sucker for lifestyle marketing and Rivian is absolutely owning it. I'm also an ex-4Runner owner so I want SUV ish looks, soft roading capability, AWD (yes I prefer that over 4WD), and room for my wife, my 2 kids, our dog, and "stuff". The R2 gives us similar space to my current Outback but also adds more space in the frunk, has a more vertical rear cargo space for a dog kennel, and adds a ton of power, even over my not super slow turbo Outback.

The other reason I want a Rivian is the lack of (hopefully) dealership visits. No stressing about mechanical failures as there are just simply less mechanicals. Yes I know there are lots of electronic stuff but from what I've read in my limited EV exposure, a lot can be fixed OTA.

I can also charge at home every night and cover 99% of the travels I do today. Rarely will I have to charge anywhere else. Know what that means?? No more gas station stops! If we do have to stop and charge, it'll be at a charger half way through a road trip travel day. In which case we'll need a car break and can eat lunch. Easy.
