LMAO. An hour and a half after I posted that, they transferred it. I just went to my truck to turn pet mode on and it had my name lol. Hopefully yours is good too! It only took a month.

Hi CNike64-I made an account just to respond to this. I am in the same boat. I have been waiting just over a month. The best answer I have gotten is that someone traded their truck into rivian, and since rivian doesn't sell used vehicles (I guess?), they auctioned it to a dealer, who I bought it from. Apparently that extra step is "causing issues with their system".. paraphrasing there, but you get the point.
It is very frustrating. I've had three teslas, all of which had app functionality immediately, and ownership transfers happened within a day. Regardless. App functionality and being able to schedule service is what I am looking forward to. I was also told that I would be able to schedule service without an ownership transfer, which is not the case. The service department won't do anything.
Someone mentioned a squeaky wheel- I agree. In this case however it hasn't helped me. I have emailed back and forth almost 20 times now, had at least ten phone conversations, and have used the various chat features probably 5 or 6 times. Everyone is nice, but no one is helpful.
I'm usually pointed to another department that then points me back in the direction I came. Every person has just said sorry we can't do anything until the ownership transfer happens.
When will that happen? What is the exact issue? Who knows. It seems like this should be an easy fix, but if I've talked to this many people spending that much time telling me there's nothing they can do, then maybe there is some difficulty to it. I don't know. These are first world problems, but either way, it's frustrating.
if rivian would have just sold the vehicle themselves I would have bought it from them and probably would be preconditioning the climate from my phone right now.
Hopefully we get some good news soon! I submitted my transfer stuff over a month ago.
Cheers from Oregon!
I bought mine in Surprise, Arizona, from a Hyundai dealership. Car only has 9,500 miles on it and has two previous owners so guessing the exact same story; traded in and auctioned to dealership. Very encouraging that you’re finally over the finish line!!!@AAA
idk if you saw my post. Mine just went through today. Hopefully yours goes through soon. Where did you buy yours from? I bought mine from a VW dealership in Salem. Yes mine also said rivian owner, until I just opened it up and it said hello, Corey!
I hope if mine went through that means they figured something out and yours isn't far behind!
Corey
Thanks Wilsonos! Yep you’re not alone. At least youreI’m going on two weeks of back and forth with Rivian. They don’t like the paperwork from the dealer. I bought it out of state and the transfer of registration could take another 2 weeks. They didn’t except the bill of sale from the dealer which was one of the items they said I could use, they called it an “invoice”. I sent many other documents with my name and signature on them. These were legal documents for the State of CT. Now they want my registration from my state or a title in my names. Frustrating is an understatement for me, thank god I love the truck.
I do understand they need to make security a number one priority and not let just any Tom, Dick or Harry transfer ownership but they need to figure this out and streamline it. I’m glad it’s not just me. Good luck everybody.
Thanks for your post Wilsonos. Again good to hear we’re not alone. Agree security is critical but there HAS TO BE A BETTER WAY! Definitely a bad first experience for all of us while absolutely my R1T!I’m going on two weeks of back and forth with Rivian. They don’t like the paperwork from the dealer.
