So I picked up the truck yesterday, I want to say the build quality is great, the panel gabs are like any other manufacture that is been producing cars for some time.. so no problem with that.. I am taking the truck for a drive to San Diego to get some miles on it :)

One thing I noticed while driving in traffic is the clicking sounds of the front motors/some Electric switch.. when stopping and moving.. it is not an easy thing to notice ... but I had a BMWi3 and Bolt EUV (much lighter cars which the motors seems to be smoother) .. it almost feels like its a relay switch or something that is making this sound when its turning on and off.. have any one experience this or read about it in another post ??

Is it like the tick/tock noise a lot of people hear, including me?

First of all...congrats on getting your Truck, very exciting! I just happened to be perusing the forum and saw ur post just now. I have an R1S (very happy owner after 3 months of ownership). I have approx 1,500 miles thus far, and yes, I do notice the clicking sound you are referring to.

I'll be curious to see who else weighs in on this thread, but I don't think it's a 'issue' but rather expected. It certainly does not seem to have any impact on performance.

Good luck on ur trip to San Diego.

The clicking you are hearing is most likely the air suspension adjusting. It makes an audible click when making adjustments to the ride height at any of the wheels. When driving at low speeds it is more noticeable and the truck will do more leveling. If it's bothering you, I'd recommend turning off the "Auto" adjust function for the suspension in your drive mode screen and see if that alleviates it.

I too hear it when applying throttle from a stop. It’s an audible click like a contact closing. I’ve had the truck 3 months and it only happens in that situation and hasn’t gotten any louder, more often or worse.

So I’m going to assume it’s supposed to be there.

EDIT there is also a click and a little feedback on the accelerator pedal when the truck engages hold mode at a stop. I know for sure that’s what that particular click is as it only happens at that time and exactly at that time the H Appears.

I assume the click is the brake calipers engaging from regen as I don’t really use the friction brake to stop.

Yes, exactly…
I would say most of the trucks have it…there is a little play in the half shafts. It is somewhat annoying for OCD types like myself. There are several threads on it if you want to go down the rabbit hole. Or just enjoy your truck. ?

I see, I will disable that and try it … thanks

I usually just use regen to stop… however i will continue driving more today and see

I hear a similar sound. I can distinguish it from the sound of the vehicle raising/lowering and it definitely happens independent of suspension adjustments. I've been assuming it's some sort of relay or switch toggling. It sounds like a light mechanical click, but not a heavier clunk like what you might hear from a loose half shaft.

So do I, and that’s why it makes the noise. When you’re at a complete stop the truck has hold mode, an H replaces the D for drive indicating the truck is holding. When this happens an audible click and feedback on the accelerator happens. I believe that’s the truck engaging the friction brakes for the hold mode as you did not use them to stop.

Ok, I think I will have to use it more than 4 hours... to know some in-out of it ... I changed the subjecgt line to be "1st day 1st maybe not an issue"

If the clicking is something you hear when starting/stopping and under 15-20 mph, it could be related to the below. I've had my RIS for 2+ years, and it's been there from the beginning, and I was told early on that it was a known issue, but they didn't have a fix for it at the time. Also was told that there was no impact to safety or performance, but more of a nuisance. Apparently now there is a fix so I'm going to have it addressed.

(from recent mobile service):
Tech inspection: During road test found axle/hubs clicking on start and stop,
found service action RCA-38-23-002-1: Install Halfshaft Washers needed.

I've scheduled the above at the SC as I also need to replace tires.

I would also recommend turning off 'auto' on suspension settings and see if that eliminates it
