Thanks, I do, so who knows. Definitely like my old school key fobs better that allow to simply touch doors and push start. Sometimes progress makes us take a few steps back at first I guess.

Don't abandon your car in the departures area.

For a few years after 9/11 they were very touchy about that kind of thing. And any bag left unattended inside the airport for 10 seconds if you walked to a nearby trash can.

I have subject my wife to this, she rides with me, I run in to a store and it locks when I run away.

I never put it together as being caused because my profile is active and I departed from the proximity of the truck. She typically just opens her app and unlocks the truck.

It would be nice to not lock her in the truck when my PaaK leaves the area.

it is not possible to just hit the unlock button on the screen? not sure if that disables the alarm or not. I would assume so, but you know...

Another reminder why, if I ever actually get a Rivian, I'll keep using the fob. It's habit already, I'll just keep that one!
I thought I would have to do the same thing, but I stopped using the fob. PAAK works great. For OPs situation, I use the PAAK and my wife uses the card when she needs to so that things like this don't happen. If you're both sharing one car I can see how that might be an issue...

Wife and I both have Mobile Phone Key Enabled.

This morning I drove my wife to the airport.

Before leaving she got to R1T before me and her Mobile Phone App engaged the Rivian as the driver (I didn't notice this). At the airport I got out to grab her bags and give her a hug and kiss -- I had left my phone inside the R1T on the console. She walked into the airport and I went to leave, her being the "driver" the Rivian locked after she got out of proximity range (while my phone was in the truck). Fortunately I was able to run in the airport and find her so she could come back and unlock the Rivian. I changed the driver profile from her to me and all was good.

It would seem the software should NEVER lock the truck as long as a phone is inside the vehicle (while in Park) and the Rivian App is open. It should be able to switch from my wife's phone to my phone if she is not in proximity to the vehicle.
Have you reported this to your guide?

It seems like a software bug that should be fixed. I can't think of a scenario where that would be the desired behavior.

Same unforced error.

Don’t let your wives drive the Rivian.

What happened to OP would be my desired behavior. He left the vehicle unattended with an active key inside. The alternative being that anyone could have hopped in and drove away.

If you ever get in a pinch again, call Rivian and they can remotely unlock the vehicle for you. For a short time I was listed as a "Driver" instead of "Owner" when I bought mine used. Wouldn't you know ownership transferred while I only had my phone at my in-laws an hour from my house and the truck didn't recognize my phone so I was locked out. I called Rivian, answered a few questions and they remotely unlocked it for me. Pretty painless.

Calling Rivian is difficult when phone is locked inside the car.

This nearly happened to me last week. I had just parked and was opening the app to lock the truck (I don't use proximity) when I noticed the app was prompting me to setup phone as key. Sure enough the ownership transfer had just processed.

I’m guessing they don’t have the “primary device” setting Tesla does. So even if one unlocked it first off the other shows up. It switches?

This is one of those things I learned very early on with our first Tesla. Yes, phone keys are great. But technology is great when it works, super crappy when it doesn't. So I've always carried the key card in my wallet as well, just in case something like this happens.

Except I didn’t leave the vehicle unattended. I was always within 6-8’ of vehicle. My wife was the one that abandoned vehicle*
