Not sure what this thread is trying to do. List similar sized vehicles based on external dimensions? Internal volume? Or asking the community for input?

If you are trying to provide a list of comparably sized ICE vehicles, perhaps compiling a table with LxWxH numbers like this would be helpful.

Length (in)Width (in)Height (in)
R1S200.881.8 (mirrors folded)77.3
4Runner19176 (without mirrors)72
Sequoia20580 (without mirrors)77
Model X19879 (without mirrors)66
Lexus GX19274 (without mirrors)74

Also, would take these as a gain of salt as body shape makes a big difference. The Boxy shape of the Sequoia and R1S give them more interior volume than the Model X for example

Not comparing with Luxury brands, but when I got a chance to see it in late 2019, it looked very similar to Ford Explorer in terms of size and shape.

External dimensions are easy to find. Possibly more useful information would be interior space. To me the biggest size factor will be 3rd row legroom, knee angle (in some cars adults basically have to sit squatting in 3rd row), and trunk space after 3rd row is up.

Like what Aroohoo mentioned, the car should be around or bigger than a Lexus LX/Land Cruiser. This is body on frame, and closer to a full size SUV. The model X is stupidly small due to the curved greenhouse.

R1S is 202 inches long (this is also incorrect on the Rivian web site at the moment but has been confirmed).

I'd mentioned it in another thread, but the 2007-2014 Tahoe is almost identical. Same 202" length, within .4" on height, but the R1S is 2.8" wider with the mirrors folded.

Overall, the perfect size for what I'm looking for. Similar shape, Tahoe has 109 cubic feet of storage compared to the R1S's 105. I suspect the Tahoe is taller inside, hence the extra storage volume, especially when factoring in the frunk.

I can tell you it's exactly as long as my 2014 Ford Flex, which makes it fantastic for imagining the R1S in my garage! The R1S is 6" wider and up to ~9" taller (depending on ride height on the R1S—I don't know what the parked/kneel height is).

Not sure what this thread is trying to do. List similar sized vehicles based on external dimensions? Internal volume? Or asking the community for input?

If you are trying to provide a list of comparably sized ICE vehicles, perhaps compiling a table with LxWxH numbers like this would be helpful.

Length (in)Width (in)Height (in)
R1S200.881.8 (mirrors folded)77.3
4Runner19176 (without mirrors)72
Sequoia20580 (without mirrors)77
Model X19879 (without mirrors)66
Lexus GX19274 (without mirrors)74

Also, would take these as a gain of salt as body shape makes a big difference. The Boxy shape of the Sequoia and R1S give them more interior volume than the Model X for example

I would like to find out about interior dimensions as well for comparison..if 3 rd row seats are comfortable for avg size audlts, I will be pretty happy about overall size..

Those seemed to get a lot of hate, and I'm not sure why. I always thought they were great, and anyone who's ever owned one seems to have nothing but praise for it.

So this is great news for me.

I can't comment first-hand but after sitting in the R1T and comparing that to what I anticipate the 3rd row to be like (given the video RJ showed), I think that the third row will be Kid Zone only.

See this post for the interior dimensions we have at this point. Again, take with a grain of salt as the R1S isn't finalized.

https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/...ving-the-5-seat-configuration.2205/post-59552

I wouldn't hold my breath for the 3rd row seat to be good for more than 10-15min for anyone over 5'4".

I've had this talk with my wife, but if you really need useable 3 rows, a minivan is the best option (but no one wants those...). After that, it's probably a suburban sized SUV.

Also Volvo XC90 would be comparable.

I think they're just one of those polarizing, love-it-or-hate-it kind of cars. I love it. The only problems I've had are all electronic—infotainment/Bluetooth, electric liftgate, backup camera—which makes me somewhat wary of an electric car from Ford like the Mach E. I mean, surely they put more effort into it... I would just have a bit of a hard time trusting that.

Here is my post from August but the numbers should still stand at this point. Going to have to sit in it.

For those who might be used to viewing these dimensions in inches, here is a comparison with the pre 2021 Tahoe (204") on a few dimensions (Edited with a few more to compare):
