Just based on the eyeball test, the 3rd row does seem tight for two adults.I can't comment first-hand but after sitting in the R1T and comparing that to what I anticipate the 3rd row to be like (given the video RJ showed), I think that the third row will be Kid Zone only.
The leg room seems great for the 3rd row, probably cause its an EV and doesn't have drivetrain/transmission under the floor. The hip room is a bit surprising how small it is compared to the Tahoe since I believe they are just about the same width. Maybe their suspension system eats into the cabin space more than the Tahoe. Here is my post from August but the numbers should still stand at this point. Going to have to sit in it.
For those who might be used to viewing these dimensions in inches, here is a comparison with the pre 2021 Tahoe (204") on a few dimensions (Edited with a few more to compare):
R1S (202" L) Tahoe (204" L) Mercedes GLS (pre 2020-202" L) BMW X7 (203.3" L) Tesla MX Effective Leg Room - Driver 41.4 45.3 40.3 39.8 41.2 Effective Leg Room - Second 36.7 39.0 38.5 37.6 38.4 Effective Leg Room - Third 32.8 24.8 35 33.3 NA Shoulder Room - Driver 60.6 64.8 58.5 60 60.7 Shoulder Room - Second 58.9 65.1 58.3 58.1 56.8 Shoulder Room - Third 51.1 62.6 50.5 47.9 NA Hip Room - Driver 54.9 60.8 NA NA 55.6 Hip Room - Second 54.2 60.3 NA NA 59 Hip Room - Third 42.8 49.3 NA NA NA Head Room - Driver 41.1 42.8 41.2 41.9 41.7 Head Room - Second 39.7 38.7 40 39.9 40.9 Head Room - Third 38.6 38.1 38.9 36.6 NA
As with everything else, I think it will be important to to reserve judgement until you actually get to sit in it.
Volvo XC90 | 195 | 79 (WOM) | 70Not sure what this thread is trying to do. List similar sized vehicles based on external dimensions? Internal volume? Or asking the community for input?
If you are trying to provide a list of comparably sized ICE vehicles, perhaps compiling a table with LxWxH numbers like this would be helpful.
Length (in) Width (in) Height (in) R1S 200.8 81.8 (mirrors folded) 77.3 4Runner 191 76 (without mirrors) 72 Sequoia 205 80 (without mirrors) 77 Model X 198 79 (without mirrors) 66 Lexus GX 192 74 (without mirrors) 74
Also, would take these as a gain of salt as body shape makes a big difference. The Boxy shape of the Sequoia and R1S give them more interior volume than the Model X for example
Depends. Length? Probably not. Radius? maybe! But is it enough?
